Northwest Airlines - customer service

So my wife went to beijing for two weeks. She saved ~$700 by flying out of Bangor Maine, about a 3 hour drive from us.

Went to pick her up last night, and her checked luggage failed to arrive. Her connecting flight from Detroit had been tight, but she checked the baggage herself, so she knew it had made it that far at least. Filed a missing luggage claim, drove home.

Sometimes them are the breaks... saved a few hundred flying out of the US, but we knew it would be a PITA to get this luggage.

I had to come home today at lunch. As I approached my house, a minivan was pulling in my driveway ahead of me. Maine plates. They had found the luggage, and sent a guy up from friggin' Bangor, across the border, right to my front door. I could've kissed him.

Compare that to dealing with Air Canada, who not only didn't know what happened to my wife's luggage when she came home from Africa... they didn't care either. When it finally arrived 3 weeks later, tattered and torn, it had been rifled through and was missing several gifts she had bought.

I think that the "lost luggage" thing is part myth. I think someone on this board said that they leave some behind if the plane is going to be too heavy.

They ABSOLUTELY will leave luggage behind if it messes with the weight, of if there's just too much.

I grew up in the Detroit area, and we used to call them Northworst. But they really have come around in the last decade. Their hub in Detroit is great.

My wife worked for them for 27 years. They absolutely are the worst company to work for. They treat their employees like cattle. Maybe Delta will change that.

Great story, glad you didn't have to go back to Bang Her! A rare good experience with an airline.

Customer service is an oxymoron with the airlines today. I flew back from San Jose last night, flight attendants could have cared less. Admiral's Club hosts are like prison guards these days, since they started letting in platinum card holders, now the bytches have to work instead of talking about finger nail polish all day or whatever.

Yes the money and in the old days the flight benefits. Then you have seniority then you stick it out til you can retire.

My brand new luggage with spatial-era materials, indestructible, life-time warranty that I payed very good money for... was no match for Air-Canada.. Those bastards probably ran a bulldozer over my luggage, it was basically destroyed after one friggin trip! I had to duct tape so I could get home back with my clothes..
When I got there to complain they offered like $50 bucks.. -bastards!
