Rare Pontiac Tempest on eBay sells for 225k

Apparently this guy had no idea his Tempest was anything special until someone watching the auction clued him in. It turns out he had a very rare and famous drag car from the 60's that has been lost all these years. His reserve price was $500!

Incredible...... Can you imagine that guy's attitude as the info started rolling in and his old Tempest became a 6-figure sale?

So the guys wife wanted him to scrap it? I can just imagine the words out of my mouth, "Honey, I did what you told me to do, I scraped the car, they only gave me $200, here is the money my dear"........

eBay changed that a few months ago.

Makes idenfifying shill bidders very difficult.

i know that is the case for the underbidders, but i thought the winners had been identified , at least i seem to recall seeing winning bidders names up 'til a day or so ago.

Gee, your bid wasn't the highest? A former Mickey Thompson car? The price doesn't shock me at all...

I didn't bid. I'm holding out for a Mclaren F1 barn find.
