Vector returns (2000HP, 275+ MPH)
|
They've gone beyond supercar and built a "hypercar".
|
Amazing!

Very very cool, but what type of tires will take that? ZZZ rated? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1226517052.jpg |
The Bugatti Veyron sells (at a loss) for over $1M, tops out at 250-ish MPH with 1001 HP. VW poured hundreds of millions into the development. The amount of tech involved with that car, from the engine and suspension to the aero work, is staggering. Vector claims they're building a 2000 HP 275 MPH car on a poorly made website? I have to see it to believe it, I doubt they have the cash to develop such an animal.

Will this company be the farce the original Vector was?
Didn't they build something like 8 cars over 15 years? |

I'm calling B.S.
It's a pushrod V8 and they're saying they're going to get 2,000 hp out of it? Bull. If they do it'll go for about 100 miles (if that) before needing a rebuild. This sounds like glorified "redneck engineering" to me, with a healthy dose of rice-boy styling. |

I think it's a scam. He (Weigert) is clearly a sheister. He is fishing for funding to keep his lifestyle going.
In related news, Motor Meister will be building the engines..... |
Never liked the looks of the original vector, The new one resembles an 97 camaro too much in the front... 2000hp? isn't that above F1 & Nascar specs?
|
This is what the new KITT should have been, not some stupid mustang.
|
Cant find the weight anywhere?
|
Would you rather have a 1000HP rebodied Camaro, or a 1000HP/1000ft-lbs Caddie?

I'm certain the engine is a big-block Chevy based. Their horsepower numbers are easily achieved with todays technology and gear. The N/A version is way detuned. If you think about it; most of todays hardware will make at or close to 2 HP per cubic inch on 93 octane.

They made more W8 cars then any other . http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...FK911FRONT.jpg Yeah , the guy is.... let's say.....rather different . SxS |
I think you guys are being hard on the Vector.

A car that absolutely nobody would want. Or maybe 3 people in the world. Think about it, why would you want a 2000hp, or even 1000hp ugly car? When a 480hp 997 turbo, even @ 3400 lbs. with every luxury accessory known to man, can do 0-60 in under 4 seconds and go 190+ mph? When it comes to HP, more isn't better past the amount that makes a vehicle perform well. Not in cars, not in MCs, not in F1 race cars, not in fighter jets, not in semi tractors, not in anything. It just makes them dangerous, unstable POSs.
Why not give it 4000 hp and make it go 400 mph? That would make it better, right?? What a POS. |
No way some guys in a shed have the technical knowledge and resources to build a 275 MPH street car. Even a "mere" 200 MPH car has thousands of hours invested in CFD and wind tunnel work. You don't just shove a big motor in a car that looks sorta sleek and hope for the best.
Denis, its bragging rights for the ultra rich. Nothing more. Personally I'd rather have a car that makes my 40 MPH daily commute more exciting. |
I still have my Vector stock certificates from last time they were in business:p
Matt, you need an 83-84 VW GTI, those cars were a blast!!!! |
Byron you know me and cars, I've looked for a 1st gen GTi several times. It's really hard to find a reasonably stock one that isn't rusted to hell or unreasonably priced. There was a really sweet one that sold for $4k in my area recently, it was owned by a VW fanatic and had some very tasteful mods. I would have liked that one.

Is it possible that he will deliver what he claims? Yes. Is it likely? Based on paster performance, no. |

Back in September 2007 I went to an Italian car show in Michigan with my brother and a Ferrari owning buddy. We were privileged to join a parade of supercars and escort a Vector back to the owners home.
The gentle smell yet searing fumes of racing gas from the Vector fill our lungs, and we were loving it. I felt a little nervous the whole time almost shaking, like I was getting up the nerve to ask a girl out back in High School or about to have sex for the first time. The head engineer of Vector who now travels the globe servicing these aircraft spec-grade automobiles invited us into his home. We watched promotional videos and went though his scrap book re-living the stories and memories of the thing we now call "Vector". When you get that close to understanding what went into building such a car, and marvel at the hurdles they leaped over, there is an awe to it. Unless you have been part of something like that, or at least shared a little time with someone who has, perhaps some respect or a nod should be shown. I really don't see what qualifies the critics to speak out as they do, where is the supercar they helped build? http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...rge-Driver.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...eorge-Stop.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...rge-Street.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...ound-Sq-Lk.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...eorge-Pose.jpg EDIT: A couple of more pics http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...ector-Lawn.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...tor-Road34.jpg |
i'll be right back.....i need to go find my members only jacket :D

That white thing is just an ass-licking ugly kit car. Christ, if I had a dog that looked like that, I'd shave its ass and teach it to walk backwards. The wheels look like they belong on an $8.00 PU truck full of lawn mowers.
Sorry, but there is money and then there is taste. Rich or poor, you can own a piece of automotive art. (911, early GTV, etc...). That thing could knock the buzzards off a shyt wagon. |
I'll take the F40, thanks.:)

It's
Mk1 GTI...$5k for a nice one, or $1k for a crap one you need to work on for 2 years Then, you say, if I am going to spend $5k on this old GTI, I might just save up another $5k and get an E30 M3... then you think, why don't I just get a 911SC? |

When I was 12, I thought this was a pretty badass car. Not so much anymore. |
I think the Aussie version of the backyard supercar is better

The Vector is a spaceship compared to anything else on the road, it makes a statement.
I like something with more curves and lighter myself, but have to respect the effort that went into making it. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1226768912.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1226768930.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1226768948.jpg |
George, I have no doubt the cars are fascinating (though ugly, IMO).
The "farce" I was speaking of is Wiegart's consistent mismanagement of the company. |
