Table and chop saw blade recs.
What brand blades do you use? I want a high quality finishing blade--the two I have have been sharpened a few times and I'm ready to spend the money on a good blade or two. Milt? Anyone? Thanks,

I also have a Forrest thin kerf on my radial arm saw. Real pricy blade. Was well over $100 bucks.

I have some Freud blades and they are great but the Makita brand blade that came on my mitre saw is fantastic. Not sure if it is available separately.

Most of the blades that come on the more expensive chop saws are very good. The blade that came on my Rigid chop saw is excellent.

What are you trying to cut? You can have a combination blade on the table saw that will allow you to rip and xcut with OK result. If your table saw is under power, then you should look into a thin kerf blade. More tooth usually mean smoother finish cut (x cutting), usually. Forrest are good blades. I like Leitz and Systematic. They are not your typical throw away blades, not cheap. I get a 60 tooth ATB blade for the chop saw, and a combo blade for the table saw. Get an inexpensive ripping blade just for ripping.

Have used pretty much all of them. If you are using it for fine woodworking I would suggest Forrest without hesitation for the table saw. I have a 3 HP 220V saw with a 10 in blade, 1/8th kerf and could not be happier. Have owned Freud and Amana both and was happy until I switched and will not go back. I have a 12 in Freud Diablo on a DeWalt mitre saw and am very happy. I went from a crappy mitre saw to the Dewalt with this blade so I can't say how much the blade contributes but like I said, would recommend the Freud as well.
As for the price of the Forrest, they are not that much more than the others where I bought mine in Houston, having owned one I would say the higher price is certainly value added. Hope this helps. |

+1 Forrest Woodworker II. It costs a little more than the rest, but there is likely none better at the price. Plus, it's made in USA.

Festo makes very good blades, but then you're on the slippery slope of buying more Festool machines which are blade specific.
