Has Google gone nuts or is it me?

I have used Google for searching for years. All of a sudden, every time I try to do a search, I get all kinds of junk. I ran Ad-aware and it comes up clean. My Mcafee is running right. Anyone else having this problem or do I have a but somewhere in my machine?

Can you define 'all kinds of junk'?

The only difference I notice is a whole load of related searches pop up when I start typing in the text box.

Maybe do a screen capture and post it here?

I had the same problem this weekend on Google and Yahoo. I ran an hour long virus scan and came up empty.

And this was on my wife's laptop, which supposedly doesn't go to all those BAD websites

On another laptop that does go to those places, it was working normally so I think it's something in the computer.

there is a re direct virus that you have...it will give you crazy google results. download smit fruad and hijack this and use them....the spyware search and destroy ...it will be a pia, but these are pretty effective tools at removing this hijacker virus

Agreed with Nick, you've got a redirector virus/hijacker. Spybot won't catch it all.

How do these guys get away with it. If they're redirecting people to a site, why aren't the owners of the sites charged? Is it Nigeria? Russia? China?

because they may be usinmg a redirect virus as a malicious item to frive the cost of competriter sites up...pay per click sites. it makes their cost skyrocket
Spybot will NOT catch most of these, but in combination with smitfraud and hijack this..it will get 95+%...you will have 5 hours in getting rid of it. Restore will not do it either (btdt)

Well, I definitely have a redirect virus. I downloaded the above link in regular mode but it won't run (while in Safe mode, I get a message that there was an error and it has to close out.) I tried running it from the website and it does run but I still have the redirect problem. Any suggestions?
