Tonight on Top Gear: The Stig drives the Veyron

Anyone else a bit suprised? I figured the power, AWD grip, and technology would be enough to make up for the obesity. I guess I was wrong.

On another note, is there any car on Earth that makes better noises than the Zonda F? What I would give to listen to that scream every day........

I'd guess it's on YouTube, but can't search from work. I would suggest downloading a torrent of the entire episode, overall it's a good one.

Yes, final gear has links to all the full-episode torrents. New ones post every Sunday evening.

That zonda is fast and sounds like sex. But man is it ugly.

Considering the Bugatti weighs a smidge over 2 tons, it did incredibly well. Actually had it got to the top of the table I would have to call into question my vague understanding of physics!

The Zonda F has been added to my Christmas list, that thing is exactly what a supercar should be In my humble opinion...

Sadly I suspect I have more chance of being struck by lightening than finding that under my Christmas tree.

The Bugatti was not designed to be a road racer. It was designed to go 200.

But it was seriously planted as it went around the course. The Zonda got a touch buggy a couple of times.

Ya for as fast as the lap was the veyron was rather boring to watch. No side steps or spinning tires. Just stuck and gone.

It was designed to go 250. To get there though you have to insert a special key which lowers the ride height and changes the spoiler, and if you hit the brake at all, the "top speed mode" is disabled.
Also, I read that the shape and styling of the car was designed first and the mechanics, including something like 10 radiators, were creatively packed within the shape which created the initial difficulties Bugatti had when trying to release the car. It was described as "function following form" This less than ideal design might have added some unnecessary weight to the car.
