Getting my first negative feedback on eBay soon.

So I listed my TexMex Strat and got a real whiner of a buyer.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250315540923

Winning bidder (after he bid, but before he bid it up past the reserve) asked for hi-res. photos, which I immediately sent him. Then he bid up past the reserve. Then he emailed me that he had not received the photos. Why did he bid it up? So I resent the photos and he got them.

Now he's telling me the guitar is unplayable, the frets are too sharp and scratch his hands, it's only worth $125 and will cost that much to "repair" it. I replied, "If you thought it was worth only $125, why did you bid it up to $300?" I would gig with this guitar tomorrow. I've never experienced anything like scratching my hands on frets. What a prima donna loser. Anyway, I know he ain't gonna be satisfied, even if I offer to take it back (with him paying shipping again). So I think I might as well tell him to go pound sand. Pretty sure my item description and sending him hi-res. photos covers my butt in case he tries for a fraud claim, no?

One of my friends is a bigtime seller on eBay. He deals with this constantly. Of course, the new feedback system is heavily weighted in favor of the buyer, making these kinds of people even more agressive.

Some people just want something for nothing. These are the same people who will find something to complain about with every meal to restaurant management, get the meal comped, and stiff the waiter. And they will come back the next week and do it again.

Send that jerk-off a bottle of Jergens for his poor little hands.

Rot 911 11-19-2008 07:23 AM

The frets are to sharp and scratch his hands?????? I wonder if this guy has ever owned an electric guitar?

craigster59 11-19-2008 07:29 AM

Not to mention he can poke his eye out with those wayward string ends coming off the headstock..

Can he leave feedback if you take it back? Is there a way to contact eBay and arbitrate this?

Porsche-O-Phile 11-19-2008 07:38 AM

What a tool. I wonder if that Strat would fit up his keister sideways.

Rick Lee 11-19-2008 07:49 AM

He can leave feedback at any time. I can write in a very short reponse, IIRC. But I doubt the feedback goes away even if we undo the deal.

He said he's been gigging professionally for 30 yrs. I really am speechless. On top of that, the incident with the pedestrian and me two weeks ago was on my way back from getting a box out of the local Guitar Center's dumpster to ship this guitar. Oh, and the pedestrian's lawyer just called my insurance company. This is turning into a nightmare transaction. Will update that other thread in a moment.

Look at the guys feedback: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=leschander&&fta b=FeedbackAsSeller&iid=250315540923&sspagename=VIP :feedback:2:us

"Item was as described and pictured but did not meet expectations."

He left Rick neutral feedback so that isn't terrible, but honestly reed what he wrote. What the hell did this guy base his expectations on?? It was as described and pictured, but did not meet some standard he had for it...what an idiot.

Reminds me of my only negative feedback. Lady bought concert tickets from me about 8 days before the show, I told her I was mailing them (granted I mailed them later than I said I would) and she never requested priority or next day air. She got pissed when the tickets arrived the day before the show. Not the day of or the day after, but in plenty of time for her to still make it.

+1
wtf?

Rick Lee 11-19-2008 09:19 AM

Wow! I hadn't seen that he'd already left feedback. I am supposed to call him today. I think I'll let him vent, but not offer to take it back.

Rick Lee 11-19-2008 09:21 AM

BTW, the only negative feedback I ever left was for an amp that didn't work when it arrived, was nothing like described, a pro shop had written up an estimate for all it required to work as advertised, the seller told me "too bad", I filed a fraud claim and won and got money back from eBay's insurance.

Translation: It was just as you described it, but I was hoping it was a lot better than how you described it.

F him. he already left feedback. Some people would complain if you hung them with a new rope!

Rick Lee 11-19-2008 11:50 AM

I sent him an email saying that I guess the matter is closed now in light of his having left feedack, but to call if he still wanted to discuss.

Possibly a newby guitar player that has no muscle or callouses on his hands.

(wah... playng the guitar hurts my hands... wah)

Shame because those Mexi strats are great little players.

The guy has his own website where you can book him for your parties. I believe he is a pro. But he's a bipolar whiner. He just emailed me back "transaction complete".

What a douche.

Can you leave "follow-up" feedback on a neutral comment? If so, you might reply with a link to a blog entry or website page stating what actually transpired. Heck you may even include a link to this Pelican post. That way anyone curious can see for themselves in detail, instead of going off of the limited space you have to post a feedback reply message.

And well deserved if I might add.
