I'm not into the holiday lighting thing, but how about those new fangled LED holiday lights?

We always had big lights as a kid. Now we have small ones.

I think another good question would be clear or colored lights?

I use the rope lighting on my house.

I like the big bulbs on the eves of the house... kind of a retro look.

However I like the little bulbs on the shrubbery.

The new LED bulbs are great money savers on power.

Although no bulbs is definitely the biggest money saver!

Big bulbs are NOT tacky, unless you live in Vermont! They are traditional. I have been putting up clear ones for the last few years and I like them. My (adult) kids like theo old school misc colored big ones.

Exactly. there's nothing tacky about the large bulbs at all. It's the froofroo female decorator chic crowd that has made the big push for the smaller lights in recent times. Blah. Boring.

I love the large bulbs... put me in a dark room with a tree loaded up with those things, and I'm completely hyp-mo-tized... takes me right back to my childhood.

I should have added "in my opinion" to my above post because thats what it is. But if you dont like my opinion about big lights, you wont like my opinion about plastic trees. To each his own.

And I notice that the majority above live in warm places. Getting up on a frozen stepladder in a snowbank to put them up & take them down kind of chills the Christmas spirit a wee bit. I agree, no kids = no lights. Bah humbug.

Icicle lights are good for trailer parks. They were cool for a year.

Bah hum-bulb. I hate the god damn things, large or small. None on the house for me. Small ones on the tree, and then I make the kids string them.
