Kid arrested for passing gas...

Published - Nov 24 2008 06:12PM CST | AP
A student at a Florida school has been arrested after authorities said he was "passing gas" and turned off his classmates' computers. According to a report released Friday by the Martin County Sheriff's Office, the 13-year-old boy "continually disrupted his classroom environment" by intentionally breaking wind. He then shut off some computers other students were using.

The Spectrum Junior-Senior High School was arrested Nov. 4.

A school resource officer placed the boy under arrest after he confessed about his behavior, according to the report. He was charged with disruption of school function and released to his mother.

....
It does not say HOW he "shut off" the computers. Maybe by gassing the electronics into inoperability?

This kid is going to go down in history, a folk hero among his peers. I speak from personal experience.

I actually started my career in this biz many moons ago as an apprentice tool maker while I was going to school. Same company I'm still with, by the way, who paid for much of my education, but that's another story...

Anyway, I was hitting the gym fairly religiously at the time as well. In an effort to increase my protein intake, I was drinking protein shakes made from one of the commercially available powders. This stuff was almost pure powdered eggs. I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this... Yes, the flatulance it generated was something to behold.

So, to make a long story short, I cleared the conference room during a crew meeting one day. It was pretty nasty. Even the next crew, who had the room after we did, wouldn't go in. Half an hour later. So I got "written up" for "disrupting" two separate crew meetings.

I wound up behind closed doors in our General Supervisor's (second level manager) office with my immediate boss, an HR representative, and a Union Steward. I couldn't believe it. So, for lack of a better plan, I let fly in there, too. The five of us came bailing out of that little office, and the shop guys knew immediately what I had done. Rounds of applause, laughter, and congratulations from all who witnessed this.

That was over 25 years ago. I'm still a legend in that shop. The guys who knew me then, who were there, still won't get in an elevator with me to this day. I keep trying to tell them "I'm not like that anymore..." (que Clint in The Unforgiven)...
