MPEG4 to WMV?

Is there a way to convert mpeg4 video to wmv. Or wouls it be easier to just burn it straight to dvd. Does anyone know of any free software that will do this?

Probably the best freeware program available, SUPER has the ability to convert almost any form of audio/video format to the audio/video format of your choosing.

Before downloading it from the link above, do a Google search for SUPER, from eRight Software. There is plenty of documentation to explain it's capabilities.

I use this program almost every day, it's extremely versatile, and simple to use...and no, I'm not affiliated with them in any way, just a satisfied user of the software.

DVD video format is a mpeg container, so I'd go straight to DVD format from your existing files - you'll loose quality changing to wmv first.

As to *tube vids, the download helper extension for firefox and then you'll want VLC to play them. Or convert from FLV to another format - VLC can do this, as can ffmpeg.

Or if you want to stick to IE, you can find the videos in your temp file - just copy them & rename - flv format. btw VLC is agreat free player that plays anything.

Documents and Sharing>administrator>local settings>temporary internet files

Or if you're using Opera, go to the cache4 directory and do the same.

Try Windows Media Encoder for format conversion.

But that would require actually installing Real Player.

I have Roxio EZ CD Creator on my one windows machine. In DVD Builder (comes with it), you just drop a vid file on the menu and it does all the transcoding, etc for you. I think Nero can do the same.

Agreed. RP always wants to assume control of your media files & not in a good way. Similar to iTunes in that way.
