i am a farang, so i dont pretend to know their plight...but damn their timing blows. i am on a bus to bangkok tomorrow, and if i get there, i will be stuck. i am trying to get onto a plane to taipei, to catch my connector flight. a few days in taipei will do me good.

I lived there back in the early '70's ...pre Aids. It was a small beach town then. None of the big hotels besides the Nipa Lodge which is likely gone by now. We had a three BR house on the beach for $150/mo. incl the house maid. What a wonderful time it was.

My wife was there for quite some time. Most of the time a coup doesn't interrupt dinner plans...
That was very smart of the protesters to take over the airport. More international media coverage.

royally effed.

still here. turkey day closed most of the american airline agents down, so i am hunkered down until monday. i have a nice thai lady helping me and my wife get to malaysia (24 hour bus ride) so i can fly to taipei, then back to san francisco. folks are trickling out of here. five planes left an old airforce base. i will be out several thousand dollars by the time i get home. our cell phone bill is already staggering. i didnt unlock the blackberry before i left. doh.

on the bright side, thai girls have discovered western dress. they wear the tiniest skirts, with the highest heels. always a crowd pleaser. i am with my lovely wife, so no go for me. target rich enviornment.
i am quickly hating bangkok. hard to have a good time while feeling trapped.

if i dont get back by the holidays i will be screwed. no holiday gifts for anyone. i will bring $PAM to the bapfest.
