All inclusive resort for family vacation?? Any suggestions?

Hello Pelicans!

I am looking for a nice all inclusive resort for a family vacation this spring. We are thinking the Riviera Maya. Any suggestions?? The fam loves the beach and sun!! I would like to keep the price within reason and most that I have seen (travel agent) are in the 10K range for a family of 5. This price seems too high to me....

Thanks!!!
mg

I did Riviera Maya for my honeymoon 4 years ago. LOVED IT!

We stayed at Secrets Capri--an adults only all inclusive, so that doesn't help you.

Resort? You don't want that... you want to rent a beachfront house somewhere like Garden City or Surfside Beach, SC and totally chill out for two weeks.

Or maybe not. What does all-inclusive mean... all your meals are prepared for you?

Seriously look at Adventures by Disney. It's not the resorts. It's adventure tours all over the world. Yes, feed the mouse, I need the stock to go up.

Mayan is great. Moon Palace, Ibersostar, or ask your travel agent. There are lots of good places.

We have rented several beach houses over the years, our latest in Corona. It is wonderful! But this is a spring vacation and the weather may not be so warm! Our travel plans are the first week of April.

As for all - inclusive?? It means all the food and alcohol included!

Thanks!!!
I am going to google Disney adventures...

I took the family to Kauai two years ago for 10 days. We rented a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house that had access to a pool and was walking distance, maybe 10min, to Breneki beach. We rented a SUV to go sight seeing for the 10 days. We found fantastic beaches and lots of things for the kids. We brought adult beverages with us but bought all our food at the local grocery store. Cooked and ate most meals at the house. Packed snacks and lunch's for when we were away. We rented boogie boards, surfboards and snorkel gear when we arrived.
My kids at the time were 9, 6 and 2-1/2.
We were able to bring it in under 6k.
My wife knows how to find the deals.

We are looking into Costa Rica as I have not been there since we got married, 13 years ago now. I hear its still nice. We may try there in spring of 09

Here's a bunch of Maya Riviera all-inclusive resorts:

http://www.cancunallinclusive.com/resorts_rivier_maya.htm

My wife and I had our honeymoon in the Yucatan (Cancun, Cozamel, Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, etc). We had a beachside bungalo, however. Great time!

Hanalei bay Kauai is in Hawaii. Maybe you might consider picking an island in Hawaii, and take your search in that direction. I'm sure Maui would provide no shortage for you and your family. You can certainly put together something on your own in your budget. There's a lot of travel resources available. That's not to say you won't find an all-inclusive in your range, as well. Good luck.

The Paradisus Riviera in Cancun in great. All inclusive, including adult beverages.
Everything you need right there, but also not far from the more popular attractions:
Close to the Acamaya Reef. Cancun (Kukulkan Plaza, Plaza La Isla, etc.) and Isla Mujeres to the North.
Xcaret, Chichen Itza, Tulum, etc. to the South (Tulum is a bit of a drive, but not too bad).

Stayed there a few years back, and enjoyed it a lot.

The family vacations I have been on are pretty much as Dbyers described.

The state of Hawaii consists of several large islands in view of and a short airplane flight apart. The state consists of the big island of Hawaii, and the islands of Maui, Oahu, Kauai, plus the small islands of Molikai, and Lanai... and thousands of other little islands in the chain.

Hanalei bay is on the island of Kauai, large cove with equally large sandy beach, small residential neighborhood with many houses for rent, three or four blocks away from the beach is a two lane highway with a small supermarket, and a few shops and restaurants.
