Mobile Ver of Pelican Parts

I just got a T-Mobile G1, very cool phone, BTW. I like it, lots of support and apps (open source) and very user friendly.

I thought I remembered seeing something here about Wayne making a mobile version of PP, but I can't find anything about it, and I don't think my phone is pulling up a mobile version. I can use the regular version, but a mobile version, I'm sure would be even better.

Send a message via AIM to Gogar
He made some templates for it that make the BBS a little easier to use on an iPhone. It's not something you 'choose', though, it just happens.

Thanks, hmm, I wonder if there's some way to select it via url or something. Or, heck, maybe I'm already seeing it. From what I understand, the browser in the G1 is based on the browser from the iPhone.

I wish we had a true mobile site too. But I don't think the version Wayne is running right now even has it as an option.

Can someone tell me what you see that's different in the mobile version? I think I'm getting the standard version.
Posted from my G1. Certainly not the fastest way to do it.

On the bottom of every page, there is this option:

Have you tried the iPhone setting?

Wow! Excellent, hugely different and much better for the phone!

Thanks again for showing me the setting, Paul.

I just never looked that far down on the page.

I hadn't thought of checking this version on a PC...

< some time later in cyber space >

... nope, I checked this version. I've got plenty of monitor space. I think I'll stick with the normal version for the PC.

It's available for my phone, but I haven't tried it. What's the benefit?

I just selected the iPhone optimized one for my Blackberry and it's much better. Thanks for the tip.

When I login using my Motorola Q, it automatically defaults to using the iPhone Optimized style.

Interesting. I've got a buddy here with an iPhone, I'll get him to try it.

I like it. Not only does it change the layout of the page drastically so that it displays better, but the drop down boxes are now like radio button menus on the phone instead of actual drop down boxes.

iPhone optimized site works great on SO's iPhone. Also looks really good on work pc and more work friendly. I only wish the thread previews were available. Wayne, can we have a work optimized Vbulletin skin?
