Re-introductions

Sorry for not posting this first instead of my Personal McCain Palin post, but I wanted to re-introduce myself.

Name is Paul from Philly but now in Atlanta. I work with user RCecale and am computer geek by day and bass player by night. I have a band that is kick azz called SPEECHLESS that users can peruse at www.myspace.com/speechlesstheband I love to fish and also have a Carolina Skiff and have a wife, 3 dogs, 2 cats and no anklebiters. I am in the last stages of rebuilding my 1971 Opel GT that has an upgraded suspension, wheels and tires, and an engine from a 88 Ford Thunderbird complete with front mounted intercooler and turbocharger. I was not able to post pics before so here is the before and what it will look like after. I am a Republican and my biggest pet peeve is people interrupting me. Grettings folks

Very cool! I had a '73 Opel GT and loved it. That was my first "fun" car.

Welcome.

Welcome! We need an Opel GT expert here. We've had several threads on that car and no expert.

Absolutley! Most cool...would love to meet and hang out. Hopefully my Opel GT will be done by then....sheesh! Of course I cannot complain since all of the bodywork and painting is being done FREE!!

Looking forward to it.

Greetings again, Paulie from Atlanta here. In response to requests for more pics of my 71' Opel GT I have finally gotten off my butt and put together a little montage. Hopefully within the next few weeks the final product shall be unveiled.

Pic 1 is when the car arrived at the place I was going to have the major engine and tranny swap done. This would be an turbocharged engine from a 88 Ford Thunderbird, the 4 banger with a turbocharger.

Pic 2 is of the new engine. You can see the intercooler mounted on top there. This engine had the issue of being too high for the standard hood. I had to live with the hood resting on the engine for awhile.

Pic 3 - obviously a new front mounted intercooler. It is much more efficient and now this car goes really fast, I will likely need to learn how to drive it all over again.

Pic 4 is the new(ish) interior. All of the carpeting is tan, and later I will be replacing that center tray to something a little more slick.

Pic 5, the new headliner. The guy did a pretty bang up job all around. I also had that B-Quiet stuff put all under the carpets and also under the headliner. It should drastically reduce noise in the cabin of the car.

Pic 6, the delivery of the car to the body and paint shop. Notice the raised hood to accommodate the larger engine. To be honest I like this more than the stock hood as I am one of those guys who likes his stuff symmetrical. Also of note are the new wheels from Ronal and the tires are Michelin PS2's

Pic 7, here we have a majority of the body work done. She really went for it too, lots of dings and dents and scrapes all taken care of.

Pic 8 is rear body work including that rear lip that needed some major repair.

Pic 9, that rear lip is pretty much done along with the rest of the car.

Primed and ready for the paint job!

There you go folks, I'll be posting new pics as soon as it is painted and put back together! Been 4 years in the making, I am rather anxious to have it completed
