Atlanta: Man beats dog with sledgehammer
Awful story here in town. Dog in critical condition. The guy's name is in the article, and a quick search turns-up his address and phone number.
His neighborhood is full of dog-lovers- I'm guessing he'll be watching his back for a long time... http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/myfox/pages/News/Detail?contentId=7993206&version=5&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=3.2.1 http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/metro/dekalb/stories/2008/12/03/dog_beat_sledgehammer.html |

Would you beleive that? It has been on the news all morning fromt he interview with the vet who saved the dog to all the press folks covering the story. This incident lands close on the heels of the Michael Vick animal abuse story, so the animal lovers of Georgia are again united against this insane act to an animal.
He was arrersted on felony cruelty charges, which means a jail sentance. Same old story, abused as a child, never understood, started out as a youngster first killing earth worms and birds moved onto torturing squirrels and eventually mutilating dogs. Next stop for a sickie like this would have been murdering the family next door!!!! Stop the madness....................... ![]() |

I just took a break from the job search to spend some time with my pooch. We snuggled on the couch and watched an episode of House I had DVR'd. ![]() I can't imagine the mindset it would take to commit such an act. |

There must be a special place in Hell for the cowards that attack the defenseless, whether it's against man, woman, child, or beast. At least I hope there is.

only if the dog was attacking himself or a loved one, would a sledge come in handy. the news story needs alot more details.

If that was the case- no one would be trying to save it.

Perhaps the details will surface but if the guy has no dog bites and still beat the animal I'd say "an eye for and eye", let's see how he likes it.

I haven't read the articles because I'm not sure that I could stomach it, however I'd love to meet that POS in an alley somewhere. You have to be quite the spineless ******* to take out your senses of inadequecy or anger on Women, Children or Animals.

I probably won't follow the story anymore since it makes me sick too. They posted a picture on one of the news sites of the dog's injuries and even blurred out, it made me sick.
I did want to find out about the vet caring for it. I considered fostering it while it healed (since I'm home jobless) but I'm not sure how I would manage that around the holidays. I may inquire anyways. I'm hoping if it does recover, this much publicity will guarantee it finds a good home. |

I didn't read the article, and I won't. My first reaction is to retaliate in a like fashion. Have you seen the movie Payback with Mel Gibson? Remember near the end when they take the little sledge to his toes. I say we start there with this guy and work our way up using larger and larger hammers.

Can't read the article either. I don't even want to know details. My love for the canine species is pretty absolute.

That's just plain sad. Unless this guy has some serious bite marks, he's a punk coward.
