somebody stole my tree

In the grand scheme of things perhaps not a big deal, but I'm actually rather annoyed and somewhat depressed. I live in a small apartment building on the corner of two busy though not major streets. It is a ground floor apartment, and my front door faces one of the streets. There is about a 20' walkway from the sidewalk to my door, and I have a two step concrete porch with brick walls sticking out about 3' on each side. On one side I have an orchid in a pot up on the brick wall (about 2' from my door/wall), and then another orchid in a pot down on the step portion just below that. On the other side *was* one a plant that looks kinda like a small pine tree (can't recall the name). It actually was used one year at the house as our xmas tree, and still had one ornament on it. My ex has tons of plants so she gave me those over the past few months.

Anywho, Calvin and I are coming into the apartment and he says, "where is the tree?" And sure enough - the plant is gone, pot and all, but they were kind enough to leave the base.

People suck.

Lighten up, bucko... times are tough... some dude probably needed the three bucks he got for that thing for his next meal.

Or his next bottle of convenience store wine.

Nail it down or it goes into the great commie collective. :D

I'll be back for the orchids. :)

Porsche-O-Phile 12-05-2008 07:42 AM

It was the Mary Jane plant, wasn't it?

Better than stealing your rug. We all know how that turned out...

gprsh924 12-05-2008 07:54 AM

Damn, that tree really pulled the porch together.

scottmandue 12-05-2008 07:57 AM

The porch is out of balance now...I just don't know what I'll do.

Jim, be sure to water it soon - I was out of town and forgot.

hey wait, all you guys can't have the tree.

Unless you cut it into pieces and now are holding the parts for ransom. You evil bastards! You killed Kenny! (that was what I called it)

Zeke 12-05-2008 08:04 AM

When you see the cost of any mature potted plant, you know why. Aren't sago palms worth in the 1000's? I've heard of them being dug up out of the yard. I'm sure a pine would cost 100 or more at the nursery.

varmint 12-05-2008 08:05 AM

some poor family needed it more than you. leave presents out tomorrow night.

Rikao4 12-05-2008 08:09 AM

Kenny is fine...well a little bruised,
we will take a partial payment as a sign of your intentions to make good.
Once received 'Kenny' will get some water...
be aware we have been contacted by a couple in Maryland that is looking to adopt..

Sorry, it had to die for the greater good... it has been tossed into the mix at Amazon. Place an order for it... just realize you may or may not get "your" tree.

I am surprised that this theft is being taken so lightly and justified so easily.

I realize it's just a tree but it was still HIS.

Stealing it was wrong.

sammyg2 12-05-2008 08:49 AM

I bet they are hugging it right now. I told you they were evil ;)

Jim Richards 12-05-2008 08:51 AM

Todd, I watered it before I left for work this AM. All these other guys are scamming you for $$. I'm keeping it. :p
