I'm not done doing this kind thing, but it will be done in the next couple of months....

http://www.montecarloss.com/community/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=484380#Post484380

Sorry that's so long. I've been working on it for more than a year. Maybe just skim the pictures.

Frankly, it's kind-thing "chump change" compared to what my father has done for me. Wish I could do more. But I think he'll get the idea of how much he means to me. Can't wait to take a road trip with him in it.

Angela, that model was one of the very few GM cars of it's era that I thought had nice lines...never really thought of doing good mods to one. Kudos...

One time I went in to work at 6:00 A.M. and ran a special order for a customer until 3:00, then I rented a trailer and hauled the load to Iowa (about 6 hours one way) I drove straight back and got back to the shop around 4:00-5:00 A.M. the next day. I was so tired it was insane. I hopped in the 930 and drove home for a couple hours of sleep but I hit a squirrel half way home. I went about a quarter mile before I had to stop, turn around, and go back and run it over real good a few times to make sure it was dead. See, I have a soul

For pay...lots of weird/unpleasant things that are/were part of the job.

For free....Today, picked-up a toy laying in the entry way at work, found the infant's car seat it belonged on and returned it.

Last month, I didn't flog the turd 930 I had to file suit and wait a year and a half before returning it to the previous owner.

Ever, Heimlich'd a little kid at a neighborhood get together.

I changed an old lady's flat tire for her a couple of days ago when I was walking over to the bank. She was surprised some dude in a necktie did that, or that was the impression she gave.

A few weeks ago, when this guy was trying to panhandle some cash from me at the gas station, "I am on my way home from work, left my wallet at home, just need enough to get home." I had no cash, and told him so. "Do you have any change so I can at least call someone?" I hand him my cell phone, he says something about it being a long distance call, but I don't care. He took the phone, tells me there was no answer. I looked, he did not call anybody. I was nice enough not to call him a lying bastard to his face, and wished him good luck.

Angela, good on you.... you will never regret the effort.

I spent several months doing a high end restoration on a basketcase Cushman scooter for my dad last year. It also involved telling some fibs. My dad is so very proud of his scooter and tells everyone he meets about it (he dreamed of owning one of these a teen in the 50's). I had NEVER seen my father cry in my 42 years, but when I wheeled it out of a back bedroom Christmas morning last year, he cried for ten minutes straight.

Other than this project, I am pretty much a bastard most of the time.
