That must be a young roach. Probably only 2 or 3 y/o. Most of the other Houston roaches are about twice the size.

I believe the recently passed "TARP" has a provision to bail out the roaches.

(But maybe that was just a bailout for the New York roaches; those in Houston, may have been left out.)

Here in south Florida, you always have roaches. They live in the grass, and unless you are a hermit who never opens doors or windows and has groceries delivered via a Star Trek transporter, then you'll eventually find a roach in your house.

-keep the place clean and they die before they can breed and become a problem.

My favorite use for the roaches I occasionally catch in my house? I feed them to the Muscovy ducks ["Caribbean chickens"] that live in the backyard. I've got a pair that, though wild, are pretty much pets and spend their evenings *****ing on my dock. They raid my bird feeder every day, and this keeps them coming around. They will even eat out of your hand, they are so tame.

Their favorite treat? A big ol' juicy-assed ROACH! I catch them with a paper towl, and the birds have learned that when I open the slider to the lanai with a paper towl in my hand that their favorite treat is about to be served and the first duck to get to it wins! Mad dash...

N!
