Prepare for a thick book. There are quite a few differences with the new turbo MCS from the S/C MCS.

I hear they are very fun cars to drive. Personally I think they are a tad on the feminine side, but thats just me.

![]() I've driven one. There is more room in one of those things than a Cadillac. See them at the track all the time also. Nice purchase Wayne. And yeah... get rid of that drivers side mirror. You're ruining the areo

I have an '05 Cooper (base model) and it is a great DD that is lots of fun on back roads. Yeah, it's underpowered and not going to win any awards for being quick. However, running the n/a up above 4K in 3rd gear on local back roads is a blast, great throttle response and in stock form handles really well. I just passed 60K with normal maint., no repairs to date and have averaged over 32mpg with about a 50/50 split of highway to city miles.
I am 6'2 and have way more room in the Mini than in the Boxster and find it more fun to drive. Wayne if you need any photos of the N/A for side by side comparisons with the "S" let me know. |

Curious to hear your feelings on this car after driving it for a while. My wife's been interested in one...

A friend of mine has a modded "S" model. Quicker than one would expect. Surprising little thing it is...

My wife has a Mini and loves it. Although it now is leaking some antifreeze from the well known defective thermostat housing. Apparently they used a cheap foam gasket.

Wayne:
Congrats, they're neat little cars. My wife loves hers. But it has the 'hesitation' problem, i.e. when you get on the gas after a quick shift, it hesitates before accelerating. Mini claims it's a gas problem, but there has been endless discussion on the Mini forums, and it seems there really is no cure, and some cars have it while others don't. Anyhow, here's a pic (Yes, there really is an MCS in the picture!) ![]() Cheers, Paul.

Whenever you get started on the book let me know. I'd be glad to have you take pics of the differences between the early Mini and a later one. We have an '06 MCS with the automatic trans. If you need pics of an auto trans Mini you're welcome to it.
It's been a great car.

My wife has an '08 with the turbo, picked it up in April and we've put 16k trouble-free miles on it... fun as hell to drive, little bit of torque steer but giggle-evoking acceleration. We got hers with the 6-speed manual, the all glass roof, cold weather kit (heated seats and headlight washers), xenons, LSD, fog lights front and back, and an upgraded all-black leather interior. We're thrilled with it. Congrats on the purchase!
