Porsche motor in BTTF Delorean?

A friend said they just heard that as fact - referring to the car in Back to the Future. But as a non-technical person, they had no details. I have no idea and would ask why?

Anyone know about this? TIA

Obligatory picture.

i don't see how it would fit in the delorean

the engine bay really doesn't have much room for it:

No they kept the original Peugeot V6's in them. But I did read somewhere that they dubbed a Porsche 911 engine sound into the sound track at the times when the car is running on the "internal combustion engine" instead of the flux capacitor thingamaggy.

I haven't watched a BTTF movie in years, so I can't confirm that, but I am quite sure I read that somewhere.

Six DMC-12s were co-opted for use in the making of the films.[35] For the second and third films, producers replaced the underpowered stock engines in their production cars with Porsche engines.[citation needed]

Wow...you guys seem to think that Porsche only made flat sixes in the 80's.

They did make at least one engine that would fit...

Stijn, are the red arrows pointing to the binding posts for the flux capacitor?

It looks like the flux capacitor cooling line on the lower right might be occluded.
