Thanks CGARR! Now Our Son Wants a Huge Model Plane!!!
Your killing me! I thought I had all the Christmas stuff taken care of! After seeing your post and vid all he talks about is wanting a plane like that!!!
I guess I will take partial blame for showing him that cool vid for the C-17 model - got him wanting to go on YouTube and look at all the cool modle plane vids. There are a bunch. Those darn things are thousands and thousands of dollars! Even a decent, small one is gonna run a few hundred easy.

The hottest thing right now is the parkzone models. they are foam, pretty durable and are ready to fly right out of the box. I think Mrs. Crustychief is getting me the F4U for Christmas. They cost about 250.

Don't blame the boy! It's Mr. Holloway himself that wants the plane. Your son is merely the conduit through which you continue to express your childish fascination with toys. Ain't it great?

I want to get back into it. Electrics look like the way to go now. I have all the gas models around yet, 25 and 40 size, but no where to fly them anymore.

That's kind of like how my 4-year old son really wants NCAA Football 2009 for the Wii he's getting.
The other day I was soooo tempted to buy a radio controlled helicopter........for him of course.

My little brother in law had a helicopter like that. I think it broke within an hour.
The one I wanted (I mean my son) was close to 2 ft. long, and something like $50.

Kids and toys can be funny things...while Evren's girls loved the "mother of all hotwheels" set I bought for them, I really think they had more fun chasing a frisbee around on my large lawn. Living in Istanbul, they don't have 1/3 acre of grass to romp on.
Then later, Selma...the eldest, became a star & director of her version of "little red riding hood", recruiting all there to play a part. A path I have wandering through the trees here was the perfect "woods" setting for little red riding hood to walk through on her way to grandma's house. So, maybe it's not the cost of the toy..it's the child's imagination? Oh...here's a pic of the three cuties back home in Istanbul. They are modeling the Christmas outfits purchased here. Little brother Altan, named after Evren's dad seems happy in this pic. I wonder if he will be later on...with 3 older sisters? In age order...Selma, Suzie, and Leyla. Cuties all...scary smart...the genetics show.
