Would you sell your Porsche to fund a good investment.

I need some money, and for a split second, I entertained the thought of selling off the 930. I will come up with the funds I need anyway, but just curious , would any of you sell of your dream car to invest in your future??. I sold my 69 z28 for $8500 in 1993, and I thought I had hit the jackpot. But I invested that money in my buisness. I wish I had that car now, but selling it off allowed me to create a life for mysel

Unless the car has sentimental value, why wouldn't you unload at a time that you need to raise cash? In addition to the cash out, you will save some extra money on the running costs. There certainly is cheaper transportation available and most of us rely on another car for a daily driver anyway.

I have a long-hood. It IS an investment these days.

Several years ago, a friend sold a beautiful 1968 Camaro to fund building his first duplex. Real estate has been very good to him, and he decided he wanted his car back.

He now has a '68 convertable, and two '69s. Moral of the story, yes, I would sell if I had a good plan for the money. There will always be 930s for sale. If your investments do as planned, you can buy another 930 whenever you want.

Sure, it's not like I can't find another 84 Targa somewhere. I LIKE the car, but it's not like I'm wild about it. (Uh, I can't get banned for typing that can I???).

Nope - Did that in 1981. Sold my 1962 XKE Roadster for $8,500....Would have been a much better investment to still have that car today....

I'd sell a car if I HAD to, but probably not for a different "investment" opportunity.

Especially since all my "investments" are down about 75% right now, and my car in 7 years has gone up (in theory only) at least 100%.

And, you know what they say about "Speculating":

As long as you don't "Spec" to get paid, you're ok.

It would have to be an insane amount of money. The 944 is my first car and there are a lot of blood sweat and tears in that car. I will be buried in my 944.

No. When it comes to my 911, I am a sentimental fool. I have actually a very difficult time paying for my house and bills, but I would rather sell my body than my car.

In a heartbeat. I sold my 930 after IT bubble burst, in order to fund my business studies. I would like to have it but studies led to better job and more money.

So answer is: yes...as long as probabilities of return on investment are high enough.

Nope, too sentimentally tied to my 356. Its the car I came home from the hospital in when I was born, the car we took family vacations in, the car I learned to drive in.

Took my daughter to school in it for a few years, it isn't running now but my son and I sit in it on occasion - today will be one of those days. Today would have been my dad's 82nd birthday... so later on, the boy and I will sit in it, I will have a beer, and we will make "vroom vroom" noises with our mouths... as typical when we do this, my allergies act up a little and my nose gets sniffly, and my eyes water a bit...

Soon - I hope! - the resto on it can start....

There are many like it - but *this* one is MINE.

Yes I did that. I wanted to pay off my house and have a nest egg. I had an early 2.2 S Targa. Sold it on ebay and got stupid money for it and as I had it for 15 years I made a TON of profit, more than any car I have ever owned.. Do I miss it? Yes. Will I get another? Of course. Probably a 3.0 SC. I've had 5 Porsches what's 6.

No. Since my car has very low miles, I like to tell myself that my car itself is the investment. I may sell it in 20 years. Probably not.

honestly I dont think I would ever sell a car like that either. That's something special to hold on to.

Very low miles just means you're not using the car for what it was build for which is driving.

the S was the only car out of the 46 that I have owned that actually increased in value. I actually bought it with that in mind. I felt the early S cars were a good investment, something you never think of with other cars.
