Most unfortunate Kurt.
It's bad at anytime but particularly during the holidays to be treated like this. Years ago, I was let go on Jan 24, 1975 and on the street for 8 months. When I was working again and in a position to hire people I told myself to never get in the situation where you had to let someone go due to company performance. I worked for the same company after that for 30 years and never dismissed another person unless it was for individual performance.
We had a lean organization and everyone was busy and had fun doing their job. Those were the good old days when an employee was more than a number.
