Happy New Year - You're Fired

Deja Vu all over again. It was this same time 2 years ago that I lost my job when a new prosecuting attorney got elected and fired all the assistants. After 6 months of job searches I found a legal job with the state. Now the new governor needs to pay back favors and once again I am out on the streets. It sure would be easier to handle if I was fired for doing sub par work, but just to fill a political favor sucks.

Politicians and their toadies suck.

Come to Illinois. We have plenty of politicians to prosecute.

Jim Richards 12-31-2008 12:02 PM

No kidding. Good luck, Kurt.

Oh, before I forget... snow tires

MotoSook 12-31-2008 12:05 PM

Sorry to hear of this, Kurt. Worry about it next week...enjoy the rest of the week.

There'll always be room for good guys like you.

Rot 911 12-31-2008 12:07 PM

Thanks guys. Thought I would throw a 5 minute pity party for myself before I go out and get drunk.

Jim Richards 12-31-2008 12:08 PM

On the bright side, you have more time for your Pr0n collection. ;)

Join the club (I got let go yesterday due to slowdown that's causing our office to basically shut down). Very sorry to hear. Here's hoping 2009 is a much better year for all of us and these seemingly major setbacks end up being "good things" in the long run, opening new/better doors.

Best of luck to you!

Oh Haha 12-31-2008 12:42 PM

Sorry to hear this, Kurt.

Hopefully 2009 will be a better year.

Palum6o 12-31-2008 12:55 PM

Sorry for your loss Kurt, but you're not alone. I lost a nice contract a few months ago with a major pharma company and the biotech start up I was employed with just closed its doors. Things will get better, I hope at least.

red-beard 12-31-2008 12:55 PM

I got it Oct 31st. So I understand...

DavidI 12-31-2008 02:28 PM

Sorry to hear Kurt.....Get drunk tonight and enjoy the New Year, David

ruf-porsche 12-31-2008 02:33 PM

Sorry to hear that man, I got laid off in September. There is a difference according to unemployment office. Laid off is due to a lack of work, fire is because they don't want you anymore but they can still fill your old position.

Make the best of it. I am a stay at home dad right now and spending as much time with my 4 year old son as possible. Money is not a big issue since I have a pension from a previous company that also include health care for my family.

Happy New Year and don't drink and drive tonight, don't want to get busted.

Zeke 12-31-2008 02:52 PM

Kurt, I remember when you got the shaft last time. I really didn't think you guys on the prosecution side were that vulnerable.

I think the best retribution would be to have a case come up with you opposing whomever the Gov puts in your path. Nail the case and shove the verdict up the Gov's ass.

When the revolution comes, we won't have any governors anyway.

911boost 12-31-2008 02:58 PM

Damn Kurt that sucks, hang in there.

Bill

Chris beat me to it.

Politics.

Buckterrier 12-31-2008 04:48 PM

Sorry to hear Kurt. I'm very fortunate, (for now). I'm only getting laid off for a week in January.

KarlCarrera 12-31-2008 04:51 PM

You didn't do sub-par work. Politics... Several here have have been in your shoes, I know I have, divorced, fighting for custody of a nine month old, then I got layed off. Doors will open, look for strength, Create opportunities. Don't forget how and why this happened. Time is on your side. Revenge can be sweet, in small measured doses. Your gonna make it! Go ahead and have a few....just don't drive.
