Some are that stupid, some are just that desperate.

I've been rich, I've been poor. I think some aspects of being poor made me a better person. I appreciate what I have and also know how to do without if I should ever be so unfortunate again.

there is always some donut around here that dies during the winter, hunting or whatever, heating their tent with charcoal.

Darwinism at work. Hell, I say hand out a bunch of free charcoal grilles in some of those neighborhoods and let the problem solve itself. Parts of Garden Grove too. And Tustin. Bleah.

A mother and 2 girls were pulled out of a house semi conscious a week or so ago. Same deal, a fire or the stove, I don't remember. Lots of people out there can't pay their utility bills.

It's wonderful to know that our enlightened brains in the State Assembly have undertaken bills to ban fireplaces for home heating at this particular juncture in time...

Yes, I'm not making this up.

Particulate matter is a real problem with wood burning FP's and stoves. This ain't Utah. Frankly, a wood fire is a pretty inefficient way to heat unless you have all the right stuff. Outside combustion make up air, etc. A pellet stove could be better, I don't know.

actually, salt lake valley has some of the worst air pollution in the country during the winter. look it up.

if you get a wood burning stove/insert with a catalytic converter or secondary burner, the exhaust may be cleaner (around here) than the outside air.

Are you aware that many people in our area are not familiar with the proper use of toilet paper?

I actually had to post bilingual instructions on what to do with toilet paper once at a plant I managed!

Come to think of it, I've had to do it at more than one facility.

I like it! I'll bet at Wallymart you can get those little Hibachi grills and a small bag of self lighting charcoal for next to nothing this time of year. Buy up $100 worth and stop at a street corner in some of those neighborhoods and just give them away. They couldn't charge you with a thing, could they?

I guess you left coast guys arent used to winter.

Poor folks die every year using their gas stove or oven for heat. I guess the flame goes out eventually ( gotta be a drafty joint) and the gas either sets off a nice explosion or the fumes get to 'em. Sad times, some people live in the right now.

Yeah doesn't have enough tree's to support much wood burning. Most homes I know of around here use gas to heat. And might have a wood stove as a back up.

I'm with the "it all went wrong when we started to put child proof caps on the pill bottles so Darwin couldn't get the dumb ones early" crowd.
