[QUOTE=herr_oberst;4398649]Dance like no one's watching
Sing like no one's listening

OK - now that's the best advice I have ever heard!

I thought dancing was evil or something: :D

You won't catch me dancing, unless the girl has a boob in the middle of her back. Then it'd have to be a slow dance ;)

Thought I'd take this opportunity to show some of my moves from high school days...<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/2s02l3fudK8&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/2s02l3fudK8&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Which dancer are you?

speeder 01-05-2009 11:31 AM

I love Don Cornelius. What a great guy.

I was thinking the same thing...I used to watch Soul Train all the time. Don't tell me you've met him.

That video was pretty much what the dances were like at my high school. Good times! :)

+1!

Playing in bands at MANY High SchoolProms/College dances in the late 70's provided us with a "bird's eye view" to MANY chatastrophic "wardrobe malfunctions" that would make Janet Jackson blush... Prom dresses were NOT built to withstand the stress of many "disco moves".;)

Just smile and keep the rhythm pumpin'...they'd be dropping like flies about midway during the 2nd set.

(yes, I have to admit that KC, Wild Cherry, all of that Studio 54 crap,etc...was in the rotation)...At least you were not distracted by complex progressions that would require taking your brain off of "auto pilot". I think I still have closed hi-hat "upbeat eighths" engrained in my brain.

I was never a dancer and thank God my wife is not into it as well

If forced we look like this:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5xi4O1yi6b0&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5xi4O1yi6b0&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FQIgKdO__y4&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&featur e=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FQIgKdO__y4&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&featur e=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Dancing is a sorry excuse for holding a woman.

RWebb 01-05-2009 02:19 PM

many species have mating displays that resemble human dancing

that does not mean that all human dancing is for mating -- consider war dances for example.

It's not an excuse - it's an effective way of getting hold of them for starters. "Would you like me to hold you?" might get you slapped (or worse). "Would you like to dance?" might get you laid.
