Road & Track Write Up On the Nurburing Nordschleife

			Several pages long nicely done.

It's worth picking up a copy if you are interested. Anatomy of a lap is in a a ZR-1 I would have chosen GT3RS. Check it out

The ZR1 is a wonderful car, on the straights and on the Ring...

But the 911 GT3 RSR is nearly universally hailed as the king of the Ring. Look up the past few 24Hr Nurburgring Races.... a GT3 RSR has not only won them... but placed first.. second... third... etc etc etc.

My new R&T came yesterday... I'm looking forward to reading that article in full... skimmed parts of it.

Did you see where it said Stefan Bellof holds/held the unofficial record lap time of 6:11 in a 956? That is smokin'. Just ran across this on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqFrqLBcCGk

that place is amazing. i highly recommend the pilgrimage to the nurburgring. get a car from rent-racecar.de. the experience is worth every penny.

and yes, you can learn it beforehand using a playstation and gran turismo. that way you can go flat out when you get there.

Heidfeld is short-shifting and not really going for it at all - the car is not setup for the 'ring.

Given some test/setup time and a driver that really goes after it and Bellof's time would be a distant 2nd.

look don't get me wrong here, i'm not saying practice on computer won't help, i just find it questionable to say you can go flat out on your first Ring lap based on computer experience.

Computers will help memorizing all turns, but real life adds a lot to the mix. Since flat out to me, means maxing out the lap speed for the given car, maxing out acceleration, breaking, cornering speeds and top speeds I would hate to think that anybody shows up in a respectfully potent car, with the intent of "maxing it out" on lap one of the Ring on the basis that "i practiced at home" For obvious reasons, maxing out a Reliant Robin, is not the same as maxing out a GT3

i think you might be taking me a little too literally. the point is that knowing what's on the other side of that blind curve gives you a lot more confidence and safety. now everybody go out there and have a great time! and thanks for the kind words, scott.
