Hyundai: "Loose your job, return your car for free"
I'm surprised none of you have jumped on this one yet.
http://hyundaiassurance.walkawayusa.com/ Fall under one of their specific scenarios, and you can return your new Hyundai, up to $7500 upside down, and walk away from the lease/purchase agreement, no questions asked. I expect they will make a killing in the next quarter with this creative deal.

Unfortunately, there is one enormous problem with this plan...

Loss of drivers license is a covered event. So anyone on the verge of losing their license (i.e. multiple DUIs, horrific driving record, etc) should sign up, quick. Get a new Hyundai, tally that 15th DUI, lose your license, and return your car, no questions asked. In the meantime, you get to drive around in a new Hyundai, instead of whatever junker you've got right now.

That's amazing, thanks for sharing. On a related note I saw this Ford/Mercury dealership back east was offering a "buy one car, get a second one for $1" Yes one dollar!!

Wow, I cannot believe you just said that. GM has been putting out crappy cars for decades and is fiscally irresponsible. They should fold. Capitalism IS the American way, which includes success AND failure....

Easy there tiger. I am upset with GM too, but Hyundai??? I will ride my lawn tractor to work before I drive a Hyundai, or Kia. Just plain wrong for a car guy

My dad has a Sonata, current body style so probably two years old. 50k-ish miles and it's been flawless, build quality and materials are Toyota-esque, drives vanilla and boring like a appliance car should. The overall impression is of quality, which is not what I get from the average American car. I would buy it before a new Cobalt, Focus, or Neon, no question about it. This is his second straight Sonata. Both have been totally trouble free. It replaces the POS Chrysler Sebring he previously had that went through a water pump and two head gaskets before 50k. At the same time my mother had a Dodge Stratus (same platform as Sebring) that also went through a head gasket before 50k. Not to mention a number of token repairs as well. It's noteworthy because he was previously a die-hard MOPAR man, growing up in Richard Petty's hometown with a father who specialized in tuning '60s Hemis. But years of Chrysler crap finally broke him down, and he will never buy another. My mother now drives a Toyota. The American makers deserve their failure for pushing crap for the last 30 years. This "good for America" PR BS is deplorable and an insult to our intelligence. The same goes for the automaker bailout, it goes against everything our country stands for.

+1 to what onewhippedpuppy said.
Hyundai is making some very good cars now for very good prices. The Hyundai Genesis is a very nice luxury car and just beat the Acura TL for the number 1 spot for luxury cars in Consumer Reports. I just did a research paper on Hyundai and their customer service practices and they are really trying to look out for their customers and they have invested a lot of money in the United States with testing facilities, design centers, and manufacturing facilities. |

My brother is in the car industry and they watch Hyundai very closely. They are the next Honda/Toyota.

![]() They aren't exactly a "leader" in design. Most people aren't car enthusiasts either. They buy cars like they buy an oven.

My Dad had a sonata for a while and liked it well enough. Now they have the mini van and it is nice as well.
My sister had a 2000 Elantra that she drove into the ground. It took quite a bit of abuse mechanically but also had serious quality issues and parts costs issues. Every single one of her window regulators (electric) failed over the life of the car, she replaced 2 of them at over $385 each and on the second 2 decided it just wasn't worth it (and she was broke). Seriously, all 4 of them. My Dad's old ford Aerostar went through both of his so that makes the hyundia on par with a ford I guess but they didn't cost $385 to repair. My Nissan Xterra went through one and I was able to replace it for $75. I don't think I'm going to buy one.

Way to hijack my thread guys
![]() How about the weird car company that not only introduced the wicked warranty to the American Public, but now is introducing the "buy our rockin' cars, and we're understand if you get canned in a few months"? They're going to crank in the car sales...oh, did I mention that they were heavily advertised during the college football games this weekend, which means they were viewed by a massive consumer base of fools, lowlifes and braindead idiots?
