It's gone already.
There was a perfect cloud ring around the moon. The radius was huge and lit up from the moon. Really hard to explain but it looked like a hole in the sky.

Ice crystals, of a certain type, pencil shaped, high in the atmosphere. It creates a 22 degree halo around the moon and the sun.

Cool.
Thx. Know I just need an explanation for the black columns of light I see around here at times. They look like a stationary search light but the column of "light" is darker than the surrounding night sky.
