Fun Car for 10K
What would you guys get for 10k that would be relatively reliable/not too costly to own? I've got a 2000 civic daily driver and there is nothing fun about driving it. I walk to work so it doesn't have to be absolutely practical but a 4 seater would be cool. I need help!.... I can't think of anything good for that price point. Thanks for your input!

Old 2002?
Granted, your Civic could probably spank it in any head-to-head comps, but driving slow fast has it merits:cool: |
Fun car? I love bugs. Hope to own at least one before I'm done just for nostalgia. You could get an older M3, but may be expensive to maintain.

A 951 would meet all of your requirements except "not costly to own".
A 944 track car would meet all of your requirements... |
An old well sorted BMW 318/320/325? VW Corrado?
No, I've got it. Original 240Z. |

There are soooo many options. You mention 4-seater, so I'll throw out 4-door cars that can actually carry 4 human sized people.
BMW: E46 328i, E46 330i, E39 540i, E39 528i, E36 M3, E34 M5 Mercedes: C36 AMG (I love mine), W202 C280 Sport, W210 E420/E430 Sport, E55 AMG (higher miles for $10k but awesome cars) Audi: C4 S4 or S6 (awesome cars), B5 or B6 A4 Jaguar: XJR Nissan: Maxima, Sentra SE-R SpecV Mazda: Mazda3S, Mazda6 V6 Honda: Civic Si Infiniti: G35 Lexus: GS400, GS300, IS300 Acura: TL That's a start. Obviously German will be funner to drive, but more expensive to keep. |

I agree on some sort of BMW.
My mom has a 1993 E36 325is, 2 door, that she bought new from Vasek Polak BMW in 1993. She's had it "overly serviced" at BMW dealerships from the day it was new, to today. I think it has around 110,000 miles on it. I'll be selling it for her soon, she'll (finally) be getting a new car in the next few weeks. Let me know if you are interested, I don't know the pricing on these, but I'm sure it's well below what you are looking to spend. |
I would look at any BMW E36 car (M3, 328is). These cars are bulletproof except for the cooling system which you should change at about every 100,000 miles.

Carrman - the e36 sounds nice. 5 speed? $$?

It's a nice car, it's lived it's entire life in their garage in L.A. and Newport Beach, the passenger seat has been used a handful of times in it's life, and the rear seat probably used 5 times. Have no idea on the price, I'll have to research a bit, and also go take a close look at the car, take some pics, etc. She'll be getting her new car by the end of the month or so. |
I forgot the Subaru WRX. If you can ignore the rice factor, they're a quick and good handling car for not much money.
I love my C36 AMG, you can find a mint one for under $10k. http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...e/IMG_0562.jpg |
keep the civic..buy a motorcycle.

You obviously haven't driven your Civic very hard. It has a great suspension. But some meats on it and drive it like you stole it.
My 98 Civic Hatchback DD has close to 300,000 miles and I still drive it like a MadMan T.C. |
20 go-karts.
Doesn't get any more fun than that. |
subaru "subby" 2.5 rs ,pretty rare 4wd and light as all hell still dont depreciate, some people put the sti motors in them, not that i know anything about those cars but they look cool
