jazz/funk
Dont let your initial "I hate rap" idea turn you away, give this a listen, it is NOT rap whatsoever.
Pull up Itunes, search for "Beastie Boys" then "The Mixup". B for my name and the rat cage are favorites of mine. I really like the CD and also liked the Beastie Boys The In Sound from way out. I listened through some Jazz compilations on Itunes but none of it really struck a cord. I am looking for something similar to the Mix Up any ideas or suggestions?? |

They all sound the same or far too similar to me.
Sounds like they were made from canned loops in GarageBand or Acid. For some real funk, roots of the genre stick with your classic early James Brown or Parliament/Funkadelic. Without P-Funk I fear The Chili Peppers would never have come to be. Search iTunes for Parliament, check Flashlight, Mothership Connection, Give up the Funk (Tear the roof off) for some accessible P-Funk. For more RnBish Funk check out Ohio Players.
