The guy is good. I could not imagine how much custom fiberglass work and paint it must take to make it look so strikingly similar to a Super Sport.

Considering that I'm not a Ducati guy, can you give me a low-down on what is going on?

Is he trying to pass off a lower model as a higher one?

A 750 Supersport, the bike pictured, while a good bike, is air cooled, makes 65 horsepower and has bargin basement suspension. A 748, is watercooled, makes 100 hp and has top shelf suspension. Before the purple paint it was a $4000-4500 bike.

Even bone stock, I don't think that's a $5K bike. Ugliest bike to roll out of Borgo Panigale in recent memory. Godawful purple paint. And trying to pass off the entry level 2-valve sportbike as a decent level 4-valve superbike. Yeah. Custom. As in I crashed the thing and instead of buying replacement parts, had a buddy cobble together the remaining bits and shoot some blingie paintjob to cover up the mess.

Exactly. Sure looks like a standard post 98' SS to me, so it must mean the fairings were shattered at some point, and his drunk brother-in-law put them together with JB Weld.

I'm almost tempted to contact the guy and start asking stupid questions just for jolly....

IMHO, the Super Sport is one of the coolest Ducs ever. Just not the 750, and not that year. Regardless of how much custom fiberglass work and paint it comes "adorned" with.

In dead stock trim and original paint, it might be a $3000-$3500 bike. Again only IMHO, everything he has done has reduced, not enhanced, its value. It's pretty damn ugly.
