Home theater
I thought I'd post some pics of my Home theater room. It is the room obove the garage so it has no windows that make it ideal for this. I run everthing through a computer with a pro sound card and HD tv tuner. The sound card has 8 outputs that I use 6. I run the sound card to some old Phase Linear and Yamaha amps that are probably 30 yrs old but still working. For video I have an Electrohome 8500lc CRT projector, the screen is 7' wide. The picture is great.

All you need is a stewardess to bring you drinks

How do your like your projector? I have an ideal room for this. I already have the sound system I just haven't decided on the ultimate means to watch.

![]() my modest setup. Panasonic 42" 1080p plasma, Dana 630 LR on 24" stands, Dana 660 C, Cambridge Audio 540R v3 receiver, Oppo 981 DVD, DirecTV/Tivo and old VCR (wha?). The Sanus tv stand showed up last night. The old Ikea one was drooping due to the weight of the plasma. Not seen are some old Cambridge Soundworks sats in the rear sitting on bookshelves. Dana 930s will go up front soon and the 630s will move to the rear on 29" stands. |

Ive had the projector for about 5 years now and it has been great. But if it goes out I would take a look at the new DLP/LCD projectors out there. With the CRT your setup is more critical and its big and heavy. You also have to converge, but I can do that with the remote.

Mine is under my garage; very sweet and a huge success with my kids teenage friends!
No windows, some acoustic treatments; you can play a movie at full throttle and you can't hear it in the rest of the house; perfect for Dad's midnight movie madness! Nice Job BTW, I like the comment about the stewardess; kinda looks like a jet fuselage. Pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is the main floor family room set up: (needs paint & flooring still)

Very nice Rob. I would have liked to have put it in the basement but Its full of cars and the wifes Christmas stuff. Mine only seats 4 adults or 15 kids. The room is something like 13' X 22'. I havn't been to a movie theater in years. The sound is better in mine and there is no dress code.

My hastily-pieced together system. Santa gave me a new 46" set, so the 32" 1080i LCD is now in the master's bedroom.
I bought an Onkyo AV receiver and dug out of storage some Cambridge Soundworks speakers I had for my old Pro Logic set up from several years ago. Sounds pretty good, but I'll definitely upgrade to 7.1 and make full use of the receiver's HD audio decoding. I did get a new Polk sub-woofer. The laptop on the floor serves as the DVD player, for now. I hope to move the center speaker to a shelf above the TV. And ditch that computer and small white table. 911Rob, what an awesome room, btw. We've got about 400 sq ft of unfinished storage space below our garage. Someday... ![]() nostatic, nice set up, but where the hell are your wires? Mine is a ridiculous mess!

I just got some new LX500 JBL's, late 90's speakers, great sounding. Got them for a steal. They are for my new 2.1 system in my bedroom. I don't need surround, all the music I listen to is stereo. I don't watch movies or anything, thats what the downstairs 5.1 system is for.
Then my stereo amp's left channel went out tonight. It's one I have had since I was a kid, an early 80's 100 watt unit with built in tuner. I took it apart and diagnosed that the problem was coming from the opamp board, which is sure death. I have actually been designing my own chipamp stereo amp, and it is as if it knew I was about to finally stop using it. Maybe I will reuse some of it's components in my new amp build.
