Grand Am driver commercial....WTF?!

Just saw a Grand Am racing commercial with some tool 'JC' something or other talking about 'literally a fight to the finish' and at the end of the commercial they play some wigger rap and show two drivers fighting.

WTF???!!!!

This is not the way to get the respect of intelligent motorsport fans. Quite a shame to see this is the direction the numnuts up top think racing in the US needs to go.

Remember that this is the NASCAR roadracing series.

I must have missed that one but I thought the others were pretty cool.

I like the Canadian racer one. At the end he says, "eh".

Kind of a dig on the way some Canadians talk.

I don't know what URY914 means by NASCAR racing series. Is the Rolex tied to Nascar somehow?

Yes i believe so.

Generally find Rolex Grand Am to be more entertaining and easier to watch but hate the NASCAR influence that creeps in.

The Grand Am series is owned by NASCAR and the France family. That is one of the reasons you see so many NASCAR drivers and teams with cars in race.

I see.

Then it makes it even sweeter that the Porsche teams are kicking butt so far.

Yeah & they will ruin road racing like the've ruined NASCAR. Read the Grand Am rules, especially GT class.

The Car of Tomorrow and the DP look similar. Both pretty ugly.

Well, you shouldn't pretend to be so shocked, seeing as how ol' JC happens to BE the numb-nuts up top... "It's my party and I'll kick your a** if I want to"... At least this year Porsche is going to get all the breaks from the R&D Center in Concord... About time, since Bob Snodgrass basically invented the DP (R.I.P. Bob)...

JC "France"...go figure. I'm watching it live, and he just got "tapped" (not his fault) in a turn. Karma...

I loved the one about "I'm in love with my Cougar". I think he was driving a '69...my first car was a '70 Cougar (actually my dad's)...

They are trying to get the casual NASCAR fan to tune in. They see a fight and whoooo, this has to be good. Same cars, different engines. I wish they would allow different cars, individuality, etc. It's NASCAR all right, just run on a road course.

It's NASCAR right down to the double yellow thrown with an hour to go so the leaders could pit.

That tap is typical of Max. Easier than a clean pass.

I live within 20minutes of the track. I used to go EVERY year. Then the NASCRAP dweebs took over. Initially, it was a lot more crowded, especially when Dale Earnhardt was driving the Vettes. This move, of changing the race caused the crowd to change completely. It's now far less busy, there are no cool factory teams, and the drivers aren't as good. (Don't get me wrong there a few good ones, but overall the caliber has fallen).

When you go to the Daytona 500 there are so many smokers (cigarette) that you reek like you were in a bar. The Rolex was not like that. It is now. (Well, the last couple of years).

Like I said, I didn't bother to go this year. It used to be cool to see all the rare cars (Porsches, Ferraris, Panoz, etc). Now, it is not that cool, the cars are fairly common (although I do love the 997 race cars), etc.

Oh well, another lost venue.....

So what was that yellow for w/ about an hour to go? They never showed what the problem was or even mentioned it.

You probably don't know since you live 20 min away, but how do you go about camping down there? I thought it might be something fun for me and the boy to do next year or the one after. tks

Camping is allowed in the infield. VERY loud in the middle of the night.
I've slept in my 914 one year when I was in college. I was much younger than and my back
could handle it. Now...not so much.
