more SIG ARMS questions...please.
ok. literally, i have a piggy bank saving money for an elk hunt in new mexico, (may put in for montana, wyoming also). IF i dont draw, i am going to buy a new pistol. i have it down to a SIG 220. i want a .45 cal, just in case the electricity goes down for good.
i apologize, it has been a long time in buying a pistol for myself. for just good old home defense, what is the (dis)advantage in single action, double action? FYI, i want the SIG 220 carry. it comes in DAK or SAO. can one of you guys break it down for me? i already have a P226, that my younger bro retired from service and gave me. i dont understand why anyone would want a fully double action gun, that wasnt an old school sixshooter. if i dont draw a hunt, sadly i will not have enough coin to spend on a SOCOM 16. the blackout would be less scary with that. bring on the zombies.

I have 226R/.40, and I bought my dad a 220R .45 about 2 years ago as a give. Basically the same gun.
I did not get a DAO gun because I don't like the long trigger. Its smooth, and I'm sure some folks like the consistancy more. The standard Sig action is a long pull first shot, leaving the gun cocked and ready to fire every subsequent shot. I don't know the specs off the top of my head, but the trigger pull on these follow up shots is very light, maybe 2-3 pounds. The benefit is that you can thow some serious lead very quickly. The downside is that you are more prone to making a mistake, and one could argue that those follow up shots are going to be less accurate. As for me, I will stick with the 'throw lead' camp. ![]() I guess it goes with out saying, but these really are fine guns. I probably have a couple thousand rounds through my 226. Very reliable, easy to break down and clean, and damn accurate out of the box.

I was shopping for a P220 Carry with rail a few mos. ago and figured $600 was a decent price. I found one on Gunbroker for $435 and it just happened to be in Phoenix. So I went to check it out the next day and it was a real cherry CPO, came with two mags. I got it for $476 (sales tax) out the door. I don't want a SAO or DAO SIG. Mine is the traditional S/A on the first shot with decocker for D/A.

I paid $350 for a used P220 from SOG, but that was a few years ago. It hangs on a magnet near my 'cashregister'.

$750 is gouging for a P220 Carry. Aim for $600ish. If you really, really shop and are ready to pounce as soon as you find a deal, you can get close to $500. You'll never find a deal like mine, though a lot of those folks won't ship to CA. I got really lucky. A full size P220 used can be found for under $500, but it might be a beater. $700 should get you a near new P220ST with night sights and rubber grips. Feel free to PM me about any deals you find or to discuss sources.

Didn't you want a P220 in 9mm? I found one on Sat. if you want to talk with the guy. He's in Phoenix and I bet he'd cut a pretty good deal.
