Depends on if gasoline is readily available. If not, and you need to escape the urban area and get far away, might just hijack the highest-MPG car you see. My Prius, with my two 5-gallon cans (that I keep full), should get me 1,000 miles away. But if the zombies force me to fight my way out, I'll wish I was in that bank armoured car. Another obvious option is something 4x4 so you can detour around obstructed parts of the freeways. So maybe the compromise between MPG and 4x4 is to hijack a Subaru Forester, if the owner doesn't kick your @$$.

That thing was parked down the street from me for years! I always liked walking by it on the way home from school. Eventually the Car customizer that made it had to move it behind their gate because people were vandalizing it (people suck). They ended up selling it a few years ago, to whom I don't know.

There's a Unimog here in Houston, actually Friendswood, that looks just like that. Same color too. The frame rails sit higher than the roof of my miata. I like it.

Well the "rambler" Batmobile would be hard to argue with... but for cars you can actually find...

... I think a Porsche Cayenne Turbo would be perfect.

I suppose a real hummer would be a good bet too, but harder to find than a Cayenne turbo.

The Delorean with the Mr Fusion is tough to beat; if the Unimog is an oil burner, that would be # 1, since it actually exists, I would think something more fuel efficient would be better. All wheel drive would be nice, so you could run over the zombies if needed. How about a Suzuki Samurai like the guy on the corner has, maybe uparmor it a little, I bet you could do layers of carbon fiber and kevlar on the inside of the hard top

I hope that Unimog makes it. All that articulation doesn't do so well on trailers. My friend was towing his 'mog across the San Mateo Bridge on San Francisco Bay when frequencies and oscillations nearly landed him in the drink:

I have seen that video before! That is why you chain them down from the frame and not just the axle. Mine is coming on a 54' trailer towed by a semi, so I think this will not be happening to mine.:) Should just beat the snow on Monday!
