Nanny Questions?
My wife is a retired flight attendant and wants to "nanny" a baby.
She is trained in CPR ect. What's the going rate for a nanny? Is a salaried thing, hourly? I'm sure some of you have dealt with this in the past.

Going rate is $200 a week for APs, plus room and board, fees, etc. Works out to be, after all is said and done, $400 a week more or less. The key for APs is that it is not tied to the number of kids rather a flat rate. I would peg the "Nanny" cost higher, and pay it, if the level of care is solid and they didn't have to live with us.

My wife has found that it's quite variable. Does the nanny drive? How many kids? Live-in or not? (Live-in is less expensive, as you're providing their room and board.) In general, it may run from $10-12/hr up to $16-18/hr. You also may include the nanny in certain family activities, vacation, etc. Does the nanny work at night? If a kid wakes up at 2 in the morning, is that the nanny's responsibility, or yours? I don't know if there's a universal answer.

We paid our nanny $12/hr for one kid. Light driving to activities. We had a nanny prior that we paid $2000 a month.

The Mom will go back to work after staying at home for 4 months. My wife loves kids and she would be taking care of an infant, maybe five days a week. I'm all for it. We have been married 30 years and spend 24/7 together ![]()

5 days a week, assuming 6-8hr days, and live-out, in Coto? I'd say at LEAST $3k/mo.

Local rates vary but I will share my experience.
My niece moved in with us for our 1st child. She was 18. I paid all her living expenses - room and board. I paid her night school tuition at the local community college. I gave her $ 1,000 a month to cover her car, insurance and some spending money. That lasted a year. I then sent my daughter to an awesome Montessori Daycare. Liked the daycare better, mostly since there is no tv on all day. 1 infant at a premium daycare is about $ 1,300.00 a month. Includes food and 12 hrs a day if you wanted. My boy is there for 8-9 hours. 1 infant and my 5 yr old daughter who is in Kindergarten at the same center is $ 25,000 a year. So, I would guess in the Midwest a nanny who shows up each morning to watch the kids until Mommy and Daddy get home from work is worth between $1000 - $2000 a month.
