Mine went away for the most part after I left California.

I get maybe one every year or two now, after a 15 year period where I didn't get any.

For me, some Head On works great to treat the initial throbbing and two Aleve will knock me out so that I can sleep out the pain.

In the rare cases I've had a Vicodin prescription when I migraine struck, that works much better.

I get them often. Diet is the big thing. You have to figure out what foods trigger them. That helped a lot for me. As far as pain management goes, Vicodin works wonders. I also keep some Imitrex on hand when I sense Im getting one. Vash, was your vision affected? I usually can't see anything head on, buit my peripheral vision is fine. Sorta like a big grey blob in front of me.

I've had migraines all my life. I take Relpax when I feel one coming on and it stops it cold! I tried everything else and used Imitrex for several years before it became ineffective. See a Dr who knows about migraines (I saw a neurologist while I was in the USN). Get a definitive diagnosis and then find the right medication for you. Good luck!

Had them my whole life...found most of the triggers and as long as I avoid them I am good. For me it is red wine, smell of diesel exhaust and glare.

Specific remedy that works every time but apparently is not recommended is two stiff drinks (doubles at least), followed by the hottest shower I can stand.

Not sure why or how, just know that I have spent way too many days in agony, nauseous, and incapacitated....

had one so frickin bad once I was tested for a stroke! I could not form a sentence verbally or written.

Beware of cheap Champagne, MSG, (you will not believe how many products have it, jerky, boulion, chex snack mix and many others...start reading ingredients!

I think it is the wild pig meat. Next time you kill one, just bring it by my house. I'll take it off your hands.

Seriously though, it has been said above, you should look into the psychological aspect of it. Are you stressed out?

Years ago, I was getting two or three really bad ones a week.

A friend told me to do a web search for "aspartame" and that it might help me to eliminate it totally from my diet.

I did eliminate it after reading lots of bad things about said "sweetener" and my migraines went away within a few days. And I've never had one since.

YMMV, but I avoid that stuff. Sweet 'n' Low, etc. And it's in most diet sodas.

Dated a girl for a year that had them bad, real bad. She'd been under a Dr's care for years. If you've had just one, I wouldn't panic yet. Anything you ate or drank different? If you get more, get to the Dr. quick. Increasing headache frequency or intensity is not something to mess with.

I've only had one, and I don't want another one. It scared the crap out of me.

The wierdest symptom was no pain what so ever. I was driving home, and all of a sudden I had complete tunnel vision, tingling in my arms, and nausea. When I finally made it to the E.R. they ruled out a stroke, and a heart attack. More test showed it was just a migraine. The Dr. said he'd never seen one without pain. I cannot fathom all of that WITH a severe, pounding headache. I feel for all of you.

Migrane headache really sucks. I was reduced to kneeling in the London Victoria train station due to a massive migrane. My youth and strength pulled me through. The last time I got one was in O'Fallon IL. I was barfing in my hotel room bed if I so much as moved my head. That took 2 days to recover from...felt like I was walking on air the day after. No access to a Doc on work travel so I doubled up on Excedrin Migrane and IBUprofrin. Have not had one in a couple years so knock on wood...

I get these, so does my father. Its no friggen joke. Pain-killers, in my case, accomplished nothing. Imitrex is good, Maxalt is similar and is what I use. I will go 6 months at a time sometimes with none, but then get a bunch. The key with Imitrex and Maxalt is to take it IMMEDIATELY. I keep one in my wallet. For every 5 minutes that you don't, it follows a logarithmic formula for how long it takes the drugs to work. In other words, if you don't take the pill for a half hour, you are in for a long ride. By the way, these drugs don't have any fun side effects, so don't expect that. But the fun is not wanting to die anymore.

Mine have always seemingly been without a real definitive trigger, but... MSG is bad, any fake sugars is bad, sodium nitrate is bad, and (drumroll please) alcohol is bad. Not talking hangover, but rather if you've recently had a migraine, one drink might be enough to cause trouble, at lease in my case.

Also, while in the midst of a migraine, find a dark, quiet room if you can. Allow the meds to work. Drink ice water.

Migraines suck.
