Anyone going to Denny's today? Free Slam.
THere are about 200 people waiting outside of the one in Japantown in SF. Looks like I'ma have to skip this one. Damn I love the Grand Slam.

I didn't bother to even look. Every time some stunt like this gets pulled, it's a total goat rope. People would stand around for hours to get 5 gal. of gas or a 7 dollar meal that you would have to pay tax on, buy a beverage and tip.

Yeah, these types of things are usually disappointing. I'm very suspicious of free things.

He11 just look at it this way, standing in line for a free meal is going to be considered to be on the job training in the coming years. Get your practice in early...
I wonder if an infomercial on TV would work...for just 2 easy payments of $29.95 I will teach you all the ins and outs of standing in line to get free food. You will get this on a downloadable CD so that you can peruse the easy lessons at your leasure. Yep there are oppportunities for the opportunistic in the coming years.

I read that most Denny's were serving over 100 "Slams" an hour and they expected to give away 2 million today.
It was all over the TV and radio news. They got their money's worth on the 45 seconds of SB ads and NY times spread. KT

I was up all night, rolled home past a Denny's at 7AM, there was a small line out front and a packed parking lot. I decided to take a friend and head up there at 8:30, line was even longer. We decided to skip that idea and went next door to a Mom & Pop donut shop. It was pretty busy considering there is usually never anyone there when I go.
While mowing down a half dozen glazed, I heard the cashier lady talking about how they were getting so much business that morning from overflow from Denny's. I was waiting to hear big news on CNN about how the stock market was booming and the economy was fixed all because Denny's gave away free grand slams and created some sort of trickle-down effect spending...
