if Bruce Lee had lived, would he have gotten more famous?

just watching "enter the dragon". fights are short, one hit, and the badguy drops, not like the recent drawn out fights. do you think his talents would have had any staying power?

Definitely... how could they not? He was amazing.

If he had lived, I bet he would've never agreed to do one of those craptastic martial arts movies where he'd be "wired" so he could do the impossible, either.

I hate those. Never saw Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon for that reason.

911Rob 02-07-2009 09:46 PM

WHO?

Just kidding, childhood hero.
Lots of boys got beaten up after watching his movies; ha, ha; oh well

I think he would've kept up, but it would've been el natural; who knows?

That is a classic style, not something born of modern movie making. Those cultures elevated the fighting monks to near godlike status, and legends have been told for centuries of fighters flying, slowing time, and knocking raindrops out of the sky. Those movies are actually more honest than anything Bruce Lee did.

A legend is not necessarily factual.

I disagree. Lee never had to use wired harnesses, so in my book, he wins the honesty contest.

BL would have only further solidified his status as a cultural icon had he lived longer. Dude was a bad-ass.

There wouldn't have been any talk about how Chuck Norris roundhouse kicked the sun one day, causing it to spin around the earth with the day/night cycle as a result...

For sure, is movies were great, he would still be a big star.....no way he would use cables!!!!

Sonic dB 02-07-2009 11:22 PM

Absolutely.... Bruce Lee had an odd combination of desire, drive, lintensity, looks and talent...

He was actually a bit ahead of his time... but would have been a huge action star in the 80s had he lived.

I knew his cousin and sometimes stunt double Bruce Li and he would always have a neat Bruce Lee story.

Li was a customer of mine for years and when I first met him I thought he full of crap. The better I got to know him the more I realized he was for real.

I met him in Long Beach, Ca.

rammstein 02-07-2009 11:43 PM

He'd have made a lot more really great movies, and probably advance martial arts a bit too.

m21sniper 02-08-2009 01:48 AM

Bruce Lee was a REAL badass too, not just some movie star. People used to actually come to the set to challenge him and he would always stop working to totally F their world up(usually with one blow). Supposedly he fought the stunt guys all the time too.

svandamme 02-08-2009 05:24 AM

I took Tae Kwon Do when I was younger. The guy that taught me had been on a kickboxing team with Chuck Norris (before he was famous). He had pictures of them holding up huge trophies. He said that he had met Bruce Lee at some "after parties", and said that BL was really amazing.

TheMentat 02-08-2009 10:29 AM

I find the stuff that Jackie Chan does far more impressive (and entertaining). I have no doubt that Bruce Lee would kick his ass in real life, but as far as putting on a performance, Jackie Chan is much better.
