+1000 This kind of thread is exactly why I'm selling my house. We live 1 hour away from the inlaws, our first child, and the grandkids. Now I know that's not a killer distance, but it will be. I want to be closer to all of them. I played with my first g-kid yesterday, 27 months old, and he wore me out. I had a blast. I'm planning for the future. Elder care, downsizing, debt-free etc. will all come into play sometime soon.

Bravo, Moses!

You guys have your priorities straight - I double what Rick and Paul said.

Good for you Moses. I miss my dad every day. He is still alive but we don't communicate any more. He has major Parkinsons symptoms AND has been on a heart/lung machine so many times that his brain is damaged. (Three open heart valve replacements) You are a lucky man.
That dinner looks great! My pops choice would be to sit down with a whole bunch of cracked crab spread over a table covered with news paper and eat and shoot the ***** till it was all gone.

I thought I was the only one! I love that.

I haven't found a person not in my family who thinks that even sounds tasty.

My Dad lives out of state but comes to stay for a week or two a couple times a year and my three kids LOVE it when he is here. He is the hardest working person I have ever known and a former Marine, he is retired now but during his working days he NEVER missed a day of work or was ever late to work.
His is very old school and the life stories he shares with my kids are priceless they are always asking when is Grandpa Wendell coming to stay again...they love him!!! I am so thankful that both my parents are still alive to share all the stories and spoil my kids like grandparents should.
ps. Moses i hope you don't mind but I'm going to steal that recipe for dinner!!!!
