Articulated arms to hold monitors?
I'm looking for articulated arms to mount some computer monitors.
My desk has some cabinets that are blocked when the monitors are at normal working position (think like a rolltop desk). I want to be able to easily swing or push one or both monitors out of the way to reach the cabinets. These are 19" LCDs so appx 20 lb. Purpose-built articulated arms for monitors are expensive and not that flexible. My arms need to mount to the wall above the cabinet, extend horizontally out, then turn and extend down to place the monitors in front of the cabinets. I was thinking of using those springloaded arms that desk lights and drafting lights used to be mounted on, and fitting stronger springs to hold the monitors. Does this seem workable? Anyone know of a inexpensive source for these arms? Or, any other suggestions? Thanks! |

Peerless makes flat screen holders that aren't too expensive, but probably do not have the height adjustment you are looking for. GCX has exactly what you are looking for but are very expensive. I know of nothing in between and this is a big part of what I do for a living.

Yeah, have to do this for cheaper, or might as well buy new desk instead.

There are smaller options available, something similar to http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&q=lcd+monitor+mount&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=13486416895911233134#ps-sellers

Dont want to hijack the thread but I am also looking for something similar. Need a swiveling wall mount for a 42" LCD TV. Need something cheap. Like less then $250, $200 preferable. Dont know if they exist for that price or not.

I used 2 of the 40 inch limit version (together) on a 42. I wanted to make sure iit didn't sag. I didn't. They also make a bigger version but too clinky for my application. Might be just fine for just a wall mount. |
