Picked up a Sig P226 (.40S&W & .357Sig)

I just picked up a "certified reconditioned" Sig P226 in .40S&W and .357Sig at the range I belong to for $625. I've been looking for a Sig in these calibers since I've been reloading them and don't have a gun that shoots .40S&W and .357Sig and I've been borrowing my father's Sigs. This is a reconditioned Sig with a 1 year warranty, new barrels and some holster wear. I cleaned and lubed it up and I'll take it to the range with some of my reloads in the next few days.

I was also looking for a Browning Hi-Power in .40S&W, but no luck.

Super gun. It's on my list. So you got both barrels with yours?

My .226 is a CPO gun. They are great values when you can find them. The 40/.357sig combo is pretty slick. That gun is just really well balanced and a great shooter. Not the smallest thing around, but who cares.

Good for you. Good choice and weapon. Careful with the Browning, great gun, but it may be sensitive to ammunition (manufacture) types. The Browning 9mm was a little picky about the brand used. (even clean and broken in). Other quality brands less so. The Springfield XD-40 is very good as well.

Thanks! Yep, I got both barrels and the gun is in great condition with holster wear on the slide. I'll try to shoot the gun tomorrow at the range where I bought it. I'll probably put Hogue grips on it since I like them on my Sig P239 and Beretta 92FS.

Nice...I was lusting after a P226 .40SW stainless a few years ago but never pulled the trigger (LOL). Is it true they are discontinued now?

My Sig P226 is an older model that was used in law enforcement, then turned in and reconditioned by Sig and sold with a 1 year warranty with major wear items (barrel, etc...) replaced. I paid $625 for mine and the new ones run $800 and up. I really don't "collect" guns, I buy them to take to the range and shoot or to carry (CPL). This is a full frame, like my Beretta 92FS, so it will not be a carry gun, just one for the range. The holster wear, etc... doesn't bother me at all. My BIL's neighbor has a shop where he customizes, polishes, etc... the guns, so I may have him polish the slide and upper...

My P226 doesn't have the rails and that's fine because I don't have real use for them. My next gun is a Walther PPK in stainless to carry in warm weather.

Well, I put 50 of my reloads through it and the Sig performed flawlessly. There was very mild recoil, but it was manageable and the gun is very accurate! I'm going to reload more .40S&W tonight.
