Ok, so what is with the 'Bed Bounce" issue with the Tundra I have been reading about? Seems nasty for SoCal freeways....

You can't beat a large truck for comfort and hauling / towing. But keep in mind those gas prices. Would you buy this if gas was $5 / gallon? If not, I would not buy it now either. A big truck is a luxury. Right now it does not come at a huge premium, but that can change in an instant, as we have experienced recently ...

I'm considering an 05 or 06 Dodge w/ the Cummins 5.9 diesel, in a quad cab, you can get the 06 with the megacab but it's a lot more spendy.

Recent article in Diesel World shows a guy with this rig getting over 30 mpg unloaded with several tweeks, and 18 to 19 towing! Yes, diesel is more expensive, but it's a lot less maintenance, longer life, and higher resale.

My dad just picked up an '06 mega for just shy of 20,000. The extra room is way worth it IMHO. Get a 5.9 and not the 6.7. I would like to see them put their money where their mouth is on that 30mpg claim. Great truck tho and more torque than should be legal.

The biggest difference between the older tundras and the current generation (besides the size) is the brakes. OMG, they make 917 brakes look and feel small and wimpy.

And have you checked the drive shaft? It's as big at a telephone pole.
IIRC (where's my window sticker when I need it?) both the front and rear discs are 13.9"...and you can get the TRD front big brake kit, which i heard was 16" rotors...

Yeah, the 5.7L you get better gas mileage; and not only is it due to the 6spd sequential shift trans, the engine block is aluminum as well, so it's lighter with more power and efficiency than the 4.7, which has an iron block.

I would say the biggest difference between the old and the new though, would be the styling (duh) and the power difference with the 5.7.

Oh, and I've got the TRD supercharger on mine, which gives it 504hp and 550 ft/lb of torque...it's kinda crazy
