Checking RPM with a fluorescent lamp
Trying to figure out the rpm of my tool post grinder I made for my lathe: Is this correct? Power is 60 Hz to my fluorescent lamp, so the lamp flashes at 120 per second, if I get the white line on the grinding stone to stop I should be at 7200 RPM?

That works out the same for me. I think you're right. I guess I can time my engine now at 7200 RPM
