copper to stainless : How to braze the two?

(This is not a matter of life and death, just life and coffee)

Wondering how to get the copper disc back onto my Alessi stainless steel espresso maker?
The copper has the markings INOX 18/10
it seems like it may have been brazed or "sweated" on but I am not sure
there is not much residual "material" it may have burned / out melted out etc.
Looks like there might have been a bit of bronze braze in there.
I really like this particular espresso maker and use it everyday
it is well "broken in' would hate to get a new one besides
replacement cost is something over $100 bucks.
Will def. repair it....

Solder or brazing using silver as the filler. You will need to use an acid flux to be able to wet the stainless.

Thanks that sounds like fun.
How hot does that torch need to be?
Can I use the torch which I sweat copper with?
Or locate a welder ?

Thanks Tim!

Propane torch should work fine. Silver has a far higher melting point than typical lead-core solder, but it's something you can work with. Be careful. It's not that complicated.

If you have never done it yourself, then just take it to weld shop and ask them to 'silver-solder' it.
