Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe Could Sell for Eight Figures?!!
Okay, this is a little crazy in this economy, no?
Mecum is selling a 1965 Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe (CSX2601) at auction in May. They estimate it will sell for WELL into eight figures. Could that be right? http://www.sportscardigest.com/archives/3142 I know it's rare and this only comes on the market once, but still... |

I know nothing about the collector car market. That said, there were only 6 coupes made and one of them ultimately won Lemans. Probably merits the amount from my understanding of the historic rivalry between Ford and Ferrari.

I'm sure you're right. It just seems like an awful lot of money.
However, its history is known - it's an American icon - and as you said, it's 1 of 6 that were built. Throw in the racing wins and I guess you end up with $15 million or whatever it will achieve. Incredible. Auctions are the ultimate "what's it worth" barometer, so we will know soon enough. Should be fun to watch - I hope it's on TV. |

Prices for the very best are still very strong to still climbing in value.
People are thinking the traditional avenues of investing are not yielding anything if not losing money right and left. With one of the very best things in its class they feel that they have something of value. Even if it declines they still have something of value. also with the new TAX codes, an under ground economy might develop
