My mind in wandering again....

I know it's come up before, but I can't find the topic in the search results.
Any good LandCruiser sites out there, primarily for the FJ-60/80s?

My neighbor's son's girlfriend has been driving one and the extended facetime (with the Cruiser) is making me want one.

Then I come across this pic and think a Cruiser would look great outfitted like this:

You should be able to pick one up CHEAP right now. I sent mine to my brother in Idaho. Had it up for sale, no action so decided to keep it in the family. 60's, 62's and early 80's can be had for 2500-4500 all day long. the 40's are a bit higher especially the 45's.

There's a lot of nice FJ80s for $5k and under right now. I almost bought one.

You must be my seperated at birth car brother, because we have identical taste in cars.

FJ40's are 7-20k depending on condition, 45's a bit more.

Cruisers rock! My family has been collecting them since 1991 in various models. Up to 7 now.

The (great but) slow I-6 was always a problem for me. I test drove a showroom FJ40 in about 1980, and passed due to gearing/top-end.

How about dropping a modern Toyota direct injection V-6 - 300 HP???/

or a v8? It has been done numerous times. The 80 series got a new power plant in 1993 with a 4.5 I6. It does fill the void in the power department, but has it's issues with head gaskets, sensors, etc... It's enough for me to like the 3FE or 2F motor better.

You'll be interested to know that I'm picking up a 2000 Jaguar XJR tomorrow. 89k, excellent condition, necessary updates performed. I'm looking forward to 370 HP.......at least until I sell it.

Silver actually. Sacrilege, I know. I'll probably be selling the AMG, as well as the Jag. I need money to help pay off my student loans, just the Jag is too great to pass up. I always do pretty well at this buy/sell thing, so a few thousand here and there won't hurt.

Hmm... I wonder if anyone in your group has some Toyota "L" series diesel engine parts? I'm trying to get some spares lined up so I never have to be in a panic if I need an oddball PS pump, alternator, head etc.

I saw a decent BJ60 for sale a few weeks ago... 8k and it was really solid, but 340k kms on the original (un-opened) engine. I think one of those would be my ideal truck. Lots of room, tough as nails, easy to work on.

About those g-wagens... next time I'm at the local Benz dealer, I'll snap some pics of the Canadian military versions. They are really, really cool rigs.
