370 HP of British Goodness......New Car

Yes, I bought a new car. So if you're looking for an XJR, just let me know in about 3 months.

It's a 2000 Jaguar XJR with 89k. Super clean, service records, the important timing chain tensioner/guide/etc update has been done. Overall a really nice car, and it absolutely eats up the highway. Effortless speed, this is the definition. It's a little big at low speeds, but really shrinks when you go faster. Interior is beautiful, seats are super comfy. It's a pretty damn sweet car. Pics are from the PO, it needs some lovin' before I take any of my own.

Isn't that American goodness? I believe Ford owned Jag from 99-08.
Either way, nice car

Yeah, I can thank Ford for the fact that everything still works.

think it was around 89-08 that ford owned jag.

anyway, you're going to love the XJR. not only is it FAST, but it's extremely graceful and smooth in the way it reaches those speeds.

A most elegant road car!

But, let's see... If you're "onewhippedpuppy" now, are you going to be "onewhippedkitty" later?

That won't last long. You'll see that the veneer wears through very quickly.

Pretty close to your title, I saw one of these at my mechanic's when I dropped off the 944 for a new alternator.

They are like a nice looking girl with no substance. Nice at first, but for many people (not all, but many), they wear thin pretty quick.

We are dealing with a fairly fickle owner here. Not that there's anything wrong with that, not at all, but a 2000 Jaguar is not a car for anyone who has high expectations of an automobile, or who tires of them fairly quickly, because there isn't much substance to them (that's why they are dirt cheap as used cars - they depreciate more than just about any car on the market).

Anyways, that's my prediction! It's a very specific one - this particular owner will tire of this particular car quickly. We'll see if I was correct in 6-8 months.

Tiring quickly for this guy is getting rid of it in 3 weeks instead of 3 months.

Agreed! the car is what it is. i've owned one about 8 months now. i havent had any problems, it's great fun to drive, and way faster than any of my 911's (in straight line). my old modified 944 Turbo would eat the XJR, but that's not even a fair comparison. The original owner of my XJR paid $78,000 for it. I paid less than $4000 for it, with all maintenence records from new. (I bought it last summer when gas was $5 a gallon, and the owner was freaking out)

I'm 27, and I've owned over 30 cars. The XJR is one of my favs, but not one I'll probably keep the rest of my life.....

LOL, that's why I'm feeling pretty safe with my prediction at 6-8 months! With this car, that's a lock.

Matt, where is the AMG?

What kind of mileage are you expecting from the Jag?

Not really going out on a limb there, are you?

Bill, I still have the AMG. It will be for sale within a few weeks, as soon as the dealer gets me a new shifter surround wood panel. It's supposed to get 24 MPG highway, I think 18 city. So long as gas stays at $2 gal I can handle it, though it's not really any worse than the AMG. I don't drive all that much anyway, my commute is about 5 miles.

Trust me, I looked into it. The only issue is the requirement that you have a seperate, non-residence location with dedicated signage. Otherwise I'd be all over it.

Book value is in the $11-12k range, depending on where you look. I paid much less.

If you do some looking, they're out there for under $10k. I missed one in Dallas for $5900, it was a 2000 with 64k. THAT was a steal.
