Bird removal help..

OK guys the birds have invaded. I have a stucco house and every year at least one bird with peck through the stucco and make a baseball size hole and make a nest inside. I use a metal patch and cover up the hole. Then six months later it happens again, all within 3-4 feet of the previous holes. It wouldnt be so bad except the hole is 25+ feet off the ground and it is quite the pain to get up there and fix it. I have heard that the birds that keep coming back are probably "related" the the early ones as they are returning "home" to make their own nest??? So How do I stop the madness? I believe they are a Finch. And how do I keep the current one out of the hole until I can get up there and patch it? I have a window nearby that I could use a few yardsticks taped together to put some moth balls in the hole or something but I dont know if that would work. Today I had a standoff with the momma bird. I leaned out the window and sprayed a can of brake cleaner into the hole and boy she didnt like that! She took a couple of swoops at me and then sat on a branch about 5 feet away from me having a stare down contest...!

Any suggestions?

Woodpecker? Try steel siding. Owl decoy. Cat in attic. Alternative housing.

Pecks thru the stucco? Superbird!

(You can't have real cement and sand stucco.)

Knowing that birds have very sensitive lungs, I persuaded scissortails to relocate from my dad's garage by placing gasoline rags by the nascent nests.

+1 for something stinky. A bug bomb got a pesky woodpecker out of my attic. Bugs, too.

I have seen folks round here string up some netting made of clear fishing string. It hangs 2-3' down from their eves. Works like a champ and is nearly invisible. The fake owl statues don't work at all. We have swallows that are supposedly (I never followed up) protected by the State that like to make homes in the eves of a home. Terrible mess (bird crap) and noise. I can't explain it but one day the 3-4 that tried to nest at my place ended up dead one day. Tragic it was...

On a slightly similar note I don't allow birds to nest here either. The 2-3 attempts thus far, for our kids education, have been terminated with black crows finding the nest and eating the chicks just outside our french door. The latest was the loss of two hummingbird chicks. No more of that.

i second the netting. the owl doenst work.

if the netting fails, get a pellet gun, but keep it on the very down low. illegal in most cases. you dont want to get caught.
